Here's the thread that shows you how to do it. No extra hardware box required. Just switches, wires, and plugs. Plus the SPG if you want to do that too. Video input can be DVD, iPod video. Audio input goes in the usual auxilliary jack.

Getting the stock NAV to accept DVD output

I have a 2008 4runner limited, my little gray plug has a red wire, a purple wire and a green wire. Anyone know which is the VSS and what the other 2 are? Thanks.

no idea what the other two are, or why it matters, but on my '04 4Runner the speed sensor wire (which is not directly related to the VSS by the way) was the purple wire, and it was in the middle of the connector. Can't imagine why it would change on newer models but I could be wrong.

I built a SPG from the directions at WileETundra's site. The question I have is about the testing part. The directions say when you hook up the 9 volt battery the voltage should spike to about 5 volts then drop to between 0 and 1 with a drop to 0 every 1-2 seconds. Mine doesn't do that. It starts at about 9 volts slowly drops with a larger drop (and return) every 1-2 seconds. So I am getting a pulse but the voltages are not between 0 and 1. It this normal?

I have never used the nav on it because I cant figure out how to program anything in it. I bought it new and it didnt come with a manuel. I can turn it on and see the map but cant program it for directions for anyplace. Can anyone help me?
