Default Video of Tundra on road course

Check this video out of the Ford, Chevy, and Toyota trucks on a road course compared. I've read here about people complaining about the bed bouncing on the Toyota Tundra and in this video I can see what they mean. YouTube - Ford F150 vs Chevy vs Toyota - Bed Bounce

It amazes me how people will eat that sh!t up. Does the Tundra have a bed bounce issue? Yes to some and no to others. How many people do you think will take there truck down a road like that? What they didn't show you is how the dash on the Ford fell off in the drivers lap. With all the attention that the Bed bounce thing is getting on the internet, you can bet the other manufactures are going to use it for fire. I am not saying there is not a bed bounce issue for some, but if it is that bad. Sale your truck and get a diff. brand. That is part of picking the truck you pick. In my case there is no perfect truck. There is always some things that get under my skin. What I will tell you is with all things considered the Tundra is as good as it gets for me "period"

I wonder why they went 28 MPH instead of 25 or 30??? Could it be because the Ford did best at that speed. Or maybe the Tundra would be in pieces at 30 J/K

Who drives like that anyways. That video proves nothing.

yea, i agree with metrictundra. i mean, lets be look at that video practically. if you have a truck, i would assume you might have business driving down a road in such condition, but who would ever wanna go 30 mph over that crap? i like treating my things (especially 38,000 dollar things) nicely and with care. i also saw a test done by the same people about the tundra front tow hooks and how "hard to reach" they are and how "they will cause damage to the front bumper in the event that the truck needed to be towed out of harder packed dirt". when would a truck have a hard time pulling itself out of hard packed dirt, unless you're on a 12% grade? ford to me has always stood for "Fix Or Repair Daily".

I agree. There is no need to post this in two different places as well. We have all seen this video a gillion times. It proves nothing other than Ford wants to sell more trucks. I previously owned an F-150 before I owned a Titan, and the F-150 would shudder with bed bounce if rocked side to side. The whole thing made me trade it in for something different.

That lame video has already been discussed here in earnest and debunked for a couple reasons;

1) They run the test with the beds unloaded, why?
2) They run the test at the exact speed where the Tundra's bed hit its natural frequency with speculation that the Ford's tires may have had less air pressure than the Tundra.

Why would they do this test with the bed unloaded? Afterall, these are trucks aren't they? I'll tell you why -- because the Ford with its extremely stiff, overbuilt frame wouldn't be able to stay on the track due to the suspension being grossly overworked trying to dissipate the extra energy from the load without any energy dissipation in the form of deflection of the frame resulting in less tire-road contact. The Tundra with a load in its bed would be able to form better to the bumps on the track with the help of the frame absorbing some of the impacts. Its called the TripleTech frame, they designed it like that for a reason. Anyone can go out and build a frame that doesn't give, that's easy. You honestly think Toyota didn't consider a fully boxed frame in their design, when they had the blueprints right in front of them (F-150)?? They (smartly) determined that a FBF is over-kill and saved money, material and weight by desiging the current frame.

You can't build a truck that doesn't ride rough empty and loaded. Physics won't allow it. You will either have an overdamped (stiff) or underdamped (bouncy) system. Ford simply found a speed that makes their truck look better and the Tundra's worse. Increase that speed by a couple mph and you could have the exact opposite happening. Trust me, I drove an '07 F-150 for a work vehicle before trading it in for an Explorer just so I won't get constantly jolted from the overly stiff frame.

I hate it when people reference this video. Kill this thread already

Ive seen so much of these videos on youtube. Ford has less bed bounce, bigger bed bolts, etc. Who cares. Ford is just trying anything to get people to buy there crappy trucks that dont last. Toyota will outrun, outhaul, and outlive any ford truck out there. Period.

Didn't know this was posted here before, LOL. I guess I should have done a search before posting since I don't come here much anymore. If it was posted somewhere else it’s because the moderator moved it on me. I’ve noticed that the moderators delete and move posts allot here now. TS sure isn’t like it used to be 6 + years ago!

The Tundra zealots can debunk this video all they want, but the first time I saw this, I almost cried. It shows exactly what Tundra owners with severe bed bounce have been complaining about.

Yes, it looks outrageous, but I will honestly tell you I don't doubt my truck looked like the one in the video when I started harmonically bouncing like crazy here in Colorado on the I-25 freeway.

Amazing how people will say you should expect this with an unloaded bed.
