Default Recycle vs. fresh air

OK, this is not an earth shattering thing, but am I the only one that is driven crazy by the way the truck resets itself to recycling air versus just staying where is was set when the truck was turned off? I only want recycle during the summer and as it has finally started to cool off I find myself having to select fresh air everytime I start the truck. We have guys on this board that can reprogram the Nav System, over ride the seat belt buzzer and explain stuff that I can't even begin to figure out (like the traction control/VSC/4-trac). Surely someone can figure out how to make my air stay on fresh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was frustrating me too, I had the service tech at my dealership jack in with his techstream laptop and change it.
That is the only way I know of that it could be done, I also sweet talked him into disabling the Pass seat belt chime.

Thanks for the info - I was going nuts with the truck on recycle air all the time. Why would they make that the default in the first place?
Thanks again!

Efficiancy is my guess, heater and a/c work faster on recirc.
I always keep mine on "fresh", I don't want to smell my stinky azz any longer than I have to.

Yeah, this "feature" is on my RAV4 too. I think it is only on trucks with the automatic climate control (which my RAV has). My Tundra has manual controls so the recirc does not come on by itself.

Here's another thought. I have been told and read that its a good idea to hit the recirc button when you're leaving your vehicle for a while (like at work or overnight). This closes the fresh air damper and will keep out mice and other rodents. I had this problem with my Highlander and they made a real mess.

Anyway, does anyone know when the damper actually closes? Is it at shutdown or at startup? If at shutdown, that could potentially be a good thing.

See I knew someone had figured this out. One more question. Is it only possible to do these mods through the "intelligent tester" or the "Techstream", in other words via the dealer or can it be done through the mod system in the Nav system?

I do not believe you can access the truck features through the Nav system at all, sorry.
The "multi infomation display" if you have a Limited has some, as seen in the document, everything else is dealer only so far, unless you buy the laptop or tester yourself...$$$$$$$$
