Why would you want the same old air circulating in your truck. I seem to remember reading on another vehicle that it is not recommended to keep the same air recirculating especially on long rides, some kind of safety issue. You should use recirculate when initially cooling the interior, then switch to fresh air once cooled down.

Our recent fires out here (Southern California) is a good example of why I only used recirculate. If I set it to fresh air, I would've been sucking in smoke from the outside. Other times I haven't used fresh air, is when I'm traveling through areas that have unpleasant smells (pastures, dairies, dumps, etc...). In the summer time, when it gets very hot, recirculating seems to cool the cab down much better.

I agree that it's best to have fresh air coming in, but unfortunately that isn't always doable.

Mine changes on it's own as well. I'll try the holding the recirc button for two seconds. If that doesn't stop the auto feature, I'll take it to the dealer. Thanks for the info. THis is anoying here in Louisiana as well when they're burning sugar cane crops before harvest. I want to keep the air inside my truck from smelling like the air outside my truck sometimes, as most of us do.
