Default Tow mirrors - installing or removing

Hi everyone, I'm brand new to TS, but I've been searching the forums for a while now.

I'm taking posession of an '07 Tundra CM SR5 4x4 at the end of the month that comes with the power heated mirrors. I'm going to be using this vehicle to tow a travel trailer, but I couldn't find the truck I wanted with the power heated tow mirrors.

I've seen various posts about folks installing tow mirrors or going back to regular mirrors, but I haven't seen anything that sums up what's been done and what's possible. That being said, I'd like to use this thread to combine it all and maybe it can be made a sticky.

I'd like to hear from folks who have swapped mirrors and what their results have been. Please be specific about the model of your Tundra since I'm sure there are differences between what will work for the SR5 and LTD. Please also include confirmation if you retained or lost any functionality.

Thanks!

Kevin

Default Re: Tow mirrors - installing or removing

Mine came with tow mirrors, which I didn't need. So I swapped them before I took delivery with a guy who wanted them and had normal mirrors. I watched the tech do the swap, it takes about 10 min per side, no major work needed. Most guys DO want the tow mirrors, so you'll need to find a guy like me kicking around to swap with, or buy some - but they're kind of hard to come by at the moment because so many want them. Good luck!
