Default New Upper Control Arms

Total Chaos has a new upper control arm that is supposed to correct loss of caster when adding 3 inch lifts...has anyone experienced any loss of straight line stability or handling issues after adding the lift and getting alignment done? I understand that camber is adjustable but caster falls where it does when you lift it....

Toyota (and everyone else w/double wishbone setups FAIK) designs their front suspension so the lower control arm pivots parallel to the ground, and the upper control arm has a slightly positive angle of attack.

This ensures stability during compression...a frost heave or hard landing is the last place you want an unstable truck.

I don't think anybody has posted alignment numbers yet, much less min/max caster, for lifted 07s.

You're correct, when you lift you lose caster, so you get what you get to some degree. There's a range tho...on a 1st-gen it's a few degrees, you should still be able to get a good alignment with a mild lift.

Less caster means the truck will be less stable in crosswinds, ruts, and chatter, will wander more, and will follow any tilt in the road much more compared to the same truck with higher caster.

Chaos increases the caster angle by moving the upper ball joint position slightly aft from stock. This does nothing but help ...and the arm should provide about as much travel as a 1st-gen with a long travel kit since the 07 arms are longer .

yea there is some laws but most the time the truck has to have 12" 15" lift to get pulled over for not having mud flaps. but most cops that come in to my friends shop will sign off on the fix it ticket right there so its pretty cool. But you will see more lifted trucks here than anywhere most cops can careless, they just nail you for speeding like a mother f-er

a pre runner can have 25" 30" of wheel travel for Pre running in the desert or what not. mostly in cali its all young adults who put 10+k in there suspensions. basically the affordable version of baja 1000 trophy truck that are 300K$$

My Total Chaos UCAs go on tomorrow with my SAW long travel coilovers, and an AAL. Obviously, this is more than a spacer lift, but I'll get alignment (camber/caster) numbers from the shop. Will talk to the mechanic about it.

BTW...these friggin' coilovers are MASSIVE

Oh yeah...California law is 48" maximum height from the earth to the bottom of the headlight...no law on the rear from what I've heard.
