    Default Sonar problem

I get a constant chime from the rear when in reverse and nothing is near me at all. It just started messing up yesterday. I cleaned them as recommended but no luck.

I had the same problem last week. The center sonar sensor was constantly chimming while in reverse. It was raining very heavily that day, and there was some ice on the windows. I cleaned the sensors but it did not go away. The next day I turned the sonar off before starting the vechicle, adn the problem went away.

Now it works again, and yes we just got a lot of rain over the last 2 days. Thanks for the help, I was dreading the time at the dealership. Looks like they would have thought of that in design. So far these are the gripes I have:

    1. Bed bounce
    2. Sonar Wet/shorted out

So not too bad considering the transmission, cam, and tailgate issues.

My truck started acting up the last couple days. I noticed yesterday morning as I was driving down the road all of the sonar lights were on constantly, but there was no sound. Today while backing into a spot (nothing behind me) all of the back end was lit up and a constant tone like I was about to hit something. I turned off the sonar, turned it back on and it is working ok now...
I guess I will just wait and see if this keeps up.

My sonar is not accurate. The front I have to get about 6" away before it starts to beep. and about 1-2" before it flatlines. The rear sonar starts to beep about 3.5' away from an object and flatlines with about 2' distance from an object. Is everyones like this or can mine be calibrated/adjusted?

I experienced that once during raining. Thought it was water/condensation in the sonar sensor. turned it off and drove, and cleared up afterwards. Assumed it was due to that. Logical explination. Have not had a problem since.

Please describe what you do to "cleared it as recommended".

I thought adding it here since it was related would help but I guess everyone only reads the first post? My problem is this:

Your rear sounds about right. You have to figure that someone might have the tailgate down. Plus people back up rapidly sometimes and you can miss some big objects like other vehicles. For the front, it should not be inches. I don't think there is much sensing directly in front but just in the corners. Nobody has ever adjust them and mentioned it here.

Just an FYI. I pulled into a parking space that had a pole right in the center at the end. Sonar never beeped once as I parked. When I got out and looked the front plate was touching the pole. Lucky no damage.

The front sonar only has sensors at the front corners to detect objects near the corners of the truck. It won't sense anything directly in front of the truck, unless its a wall that the front corners can pick up. I think its all in the owners manual.

I guess the theory is you should be able to see whats directly in front of you .

The Rear Sonar has 4 Stages not just 2.

    1. Middle lines start to beep and get consecutivly faster as you get closer.
    2. Middle lines go solid
    3. Rear Side dots start flashing and get consecutivly faster as you get even closer
    4. Rear Side dots go solid. (on my truck this is at 12")
