Heck yea! That's great news! Now I won't see them at every red light! Oh, wait a minute...... nobody listens to CR anyhoo!!
Re: CR Rates New Tundra V8 4x4 Reliability Well Below Average
Regardless if this is true. Then it is a blow to Toyota, but I also take it with a grain of salt. I knew that I was taking a risk buying a first year vehicle. No major problems but I am still under 2000 miles, and I also have a 2 wheel drive. Consumer Reports blasted the Nissan Frontier I bought too, and didn't have a problem in 6 years.
I still say the Toyota outlasts the other competition. Mechanics always say its common to see them with 200K-300K miles on the odometer. I rarely see many US made vehicle go to far past the 200K mark without being a POS except the diesel work trucks and a few select others. Don't get me wrong there are some exceptions to that. Also the article linked earlier stated Toyota slipped behind Honda, Acura, Scion, and Subaru to fifth in overall reliability. Notice there wasn't Ford, GM, Chevy, or Dodge above Toyota in the overall reliability category.

Re: CR Rates New Tundra V8 4x4 Reliability Well Below Average
BTW...this is CR's predicted reliability for 08 models....this is not about the 07's. At least per the MSN article. I still can't get over that the 4x2 is tops, and the 4x4 is listed as the worst.

Re: CR Rates New Tundra V8 4x4 Reliability Well Below Average
With its hybirds and efficient 4's, Toyota has been the darling of the left/environmental movement for a long time. Given that CR has always shared this political leaning, I think this might be revenge against Toyota for betraying them and building a big gas guzzler.

Re: CR Rates New Tundra V8 4x4 Reliability Well Below Average
I don't know where they are getting their data from but on the
Consumer Reports website in which I subscribe, the Tundra is rated #2 full size pickup behind the Chev Avalance. Only two models are quick picks as recommended and those are the Toyota Tundra and the Dodge 1500. Predicted reliability is rated as very good.
Re: CR Rates New Tundra V8 4x4 Reliability Well Below Average
This is all fine with me. Maybe less people will buy them and there will be less on the road leaving us to be more unique!! I'm seeing these trucks EVERYWHERE now.
So seriously, don't buy a Tundra. I wouldn't recommend it
Re: CR Rates New Tundra V8 4x4 Reliability Well Below Average
I think everybody that ripped into the guy that 'leaked' this info awhile back needs to chime in and admit they don't know everything and a BIG "I'm sorry"...
Re: CR Rates New Tundra V8 4x4 Reliability Well Below Average
From what I read (and I did not read this whole thread) they dislike the fact that it was part time 4WD. Seeing that I do not own one (but did own a Titan 4x4 SE/CC) I would suspect that their griping is suspect. I have much respect for Toyota and have not seen any 4X4 problems to speak of even on this forum.

Re: CR Rates New Tundra V8 4x4 Reliability Well Below Average
Correct me if I'm wrong but arent most 4x4 trucks part time. Isn't AWD more of a volvo european thing. Also how can you ding a truck for no stability control when in 4WD when most trucks don't have stability control at all. As for fuel economy I'm getting 16.5 with a DC 4x4 5.7 city/highway. Seems pretty good to me.
