a rigeline is fine if you dont need it to be a truck ... if your only towing jet skis then your fine but any real towing and your over limit ... so in my eyes they are not even in the same class ...
You are absolutely right. They aren't. The Ridgeline is a mid-sized truck, and the Tundra is a FULL SIZED truck. That is why in my comparisons I mention the Tacoma more then the Tundra or other full sized trucks unless explaining the DIFFERENCES.

Why do these threads always turn into "bash the competition" posts? The Ridgeline is a reasonable TRUCK that has a hybrid unibody/body on frame composition that tows less than a Tundra but hauls about the same. It rides substantially better - these were the trade-off engineers made.
I could say my Tundra is an SUV with a bed -- it's just a Sequoia with a bed, right?

isolated,yes ,btu it happened.
I test drove many ridgelines, but it was to light for my towing needs,Otherwise I would have one. Tacomas tow 6500 androom to spare on gcvwr

Actually the Ridgeline box has a lot less volume than my Tundra,so it hauls a lot less of bulky materials. And with less ground clearance it won't go where my Tundra goes offroad.

The Honda Ridgeline says, "5,000-lb. towing capacity (with towing package)"
FWIW... the Tundra long bed V6 is also rated for 5,000 lb.
AND ...the Ridgeway tailgate has a 300-lb. dynamic load capacity
I would rather have the Ridgeline over the Tacoma... I think it's a better deal..

It is 3500lbs for reg cab, access cab 2x4, and x-runner trim. All 4x4, pre-runner 2x4, and all double cab models, have a max tow capacity of 6500lbs.
Around here, that means most Tacos you see driving around have a 6500lb tow capacity.
I have a MDX, same platform as the Ridgeline, it is a great car!

That was my conclusion after comparing the Tacoma and Ridgeline. I was on my way to buy a Tacoma but checked out the Ridgeline at the last minute. The Tacoma has the edge as far as off road ability goes, but the Ridgeline is just a more refined package all around. Traction system, 4ft between the wells, inbed trunk, 2 way opening gate, superior rear seating and cargo area, more refined interior. It was a pretty clear choice for my money.
But at least when you stomp on the gas in the Tacoma, it gets out of its own way! My Ridgeline was a pig and when it came to gas mileage, it was a hog! I can't understand that they put a 3.5L motor in it and it weighs some 4400lbs. It should have been more like a 4.7L.
Hey, if the guy honestly owned a Tundra and is now happier with the Ridgeline, good for him. But as for me and my house, we saw the light at the Toyota dealership and will never go back. In fact, after my experience with the RL, I seriously doubt I will ever own another Honda.

That just makes no sense to me .....
Same engines .... same transmissions .... But they can TOW3,000 pounds more ???
I know suspension makes some difference, but for me, the TOWING capabilities are primarily determined by the size of the engine, and how much the truck weighs, all by itself...

Extra cooling and charging capacity but I think the substantive difference is the class IV receiver on the towing package versus bumper mounted ball.
Congratulations on your new Ridgeline. I've had my Ridgeline since March 05 and I love it more everyday. It's been great in the sand and worst winter driving. It's one of the best thought out and functional layouts I've ever seen in any vehicle. It's the closest thing to an "all purpose" vehicle I can think of.
When Toyota gets all these bugs worked out, the Tundra will be one fine machine. I really wanted them to hit it out of the park with the new Tundra. I'm sure they'll get their quality where it needs to be in a year or two. It's just dumbfounding they've had the glitches they've had. They're just not the same bullet proof company they were when I bought my 91 Toy truck which still runs great. If they think they can still ride their past rep much further, they better think again.

the regular cabs and extended cabs in 2x4 NON Prerunner version dont have the 4.0, they have a 2.7 liter i think? and well, the X-Runner and towing should not be mentioned in the same sentence
