I sold my Tundra today (after 5 months) and bought a Honda Ridgeline. I have owned 3 previous Tundras and been very pleased but the 2007 was unacceptable. The ride was jittery and harsh. Call it "bed bounce" or any other name....just poor design. I had a Limited with 20" wheels. The dealer changed them to 18' but it did not help. Also tried 500 lbs of weight in the bed...but still unacceptable. The shaking was so bad I could not even use my cell phone. Dealer was great but Toyota was unresponsive. This is the end of the line for my allegiance to Toyota. I have purchased over 12 Toyota's over the past few years but will now shop for other brands prior to my purchase. I cannot trust Toyota as I had in the past.
I love my new Honda....rides and handles beautifully. The trunk under the bed is an added bonus.
Maybe I will return to a Tundra if I have future need to pull a mobil home up a mountain.
Good Luck!!! Glad you found a truck that suits you.... My only complaint with any Honda has been that they are under powered..... but they run great

Well it should ride and handle that way since it is basically a tall car! Sorry your Tundra gave you troubles.

What is the ground clearance on that Ridgeline? Can it clear a curb if you have to do a little mobbing through a parking lot. Glad to hear you found a vehicle you enjoy. Sorry you were disspointed with the Tundra. When I looked at trucks I focused on a couple of key features including ground clearance, interior, engine, transmission, quality of construction, diesel or gas and forums. Of all the trucks I looked at the Tundra was the best choice I could make. Somewhere down the line I hope you reconsider the Tundra, this is only the first model year and there aer sure to be improvements in 09. Enjoy the Ridgeline.

Sorry to hear it. I saw a ridgeline and it does look well thought out. I guess I just am driving the right roads cause I love the ride of my DC 4x4. So far the truck has made me happy except for the tailgate issue and diesel sound made by the 5.7 but I'm in it for the long haul as I keep all my vehicles for over 10 years. The ridgeline just isn't quite a true truck to me but more of a SUV hybrid and I'm sure it does it well. Toyota has now stepped up their scale and lost sight of the importance of maintaining the world class quality they and Honda have always held high. I still think though toyota holds an edge over the other domestics but I hope they cut less corners in the future.
How much did you lose on the deal? I've been just as frustrated with the ride on mine and tried to return it the day after purchasing, but the dealer refused.
And *NO* the Ridgeline does not have a simple car frame. It is a hybrid unibody and boxed frame! I wish people would stop spreading misinformation.
Yes, the ground clearance is not great...I am just a little more careful where I drive. It is a little underpowered but quite peppy. The duel tailgate is great. I am 65 and found the higher sides on the Tundra made reaching the bed impossible....preferred the height of my 2005. The whole "upsizing" of the truck was not a good fit for me.
I bought the top of the line Ridgleing (leather, sunroof, etc) and I took about a 4000.00 hicky. The dealer currently has so many trucks on the lot and they are offering large rebates making it hard to get a trade in price. My salesman at the Honda store said he has sold several Ridgeline's to Tundra owners.

I didn't say it was built on a car frame, I said it was basically a tall car. How about this , it is basically a truck shaped minivan. As it does share the same chassis as the Odyssey.

No, my understanding is it is built on the same *platform* as the Odyssey.
The new Tundra is build on the same platform as the 2008 Sequoia. Does this make our Tundras' tall cars?
No, because the 2008 Sequoia is adopting our frame and platform. Meaning that it will be more of a truck than a car based SUV.

The Ridgeline does not share frames with the Odyssey - give it up. Here's the frame description for the Ridgeline from Honda (and no, I don't have one - but it is an innovative design):
Quote:
The integrated closed-box frame with unit-body construction is quieter than the conventional body-on-frame design. Not only does this greatly minimize the buzz, squeak and rattle generally associated with body-on-frame trucks, but it also greatly enhances the Ridgeline's ride and handling, especially when fully loaded. The two integrated, fully boxed and reinforced frame rails and seven fully boxed cross members give it added strength and class-leading torsional rigidity.
car truck who cares... its his choice, I happen to love my truck but I cant see how the ride in your truck would cause you to trade it in... if it was that bad it shoulda been warranty work or something... I traded my 2000 dodge 3500 4x4 and those things are pretty rough. but glad you found something that you could invest in.
My wife has an '02 Odyssey. Not a single issue since we bought it. If I didn't need the extra horsepower in the Tundra, I would have bought the Ridgeline too. Good Luck!
