Thanks,

if you have the limited and have the alarm, (roll window down, lock it, wait 1 minute and open it with the inside handle test) then it SHOULD be a plug and play, if not then you will have to get it turned on.(although every limited i have looked at/heard about is a plug and play)

The ball is rolling! The dental assistant will have to be a German nurse and will of course be called Frau Hen-ga. She'll delight in pulling chompers and in no time I will have a collection of hen's teeth. No good techs, you understand, those are actully rare here in the hills.

As for the arming the alarm, your previous GBS PDF included the complete RS3200 Plus manual. There, on page 5, it clearly states that to actively arm the alarm (i.e., passive off), all one has to do is lock the vehicle: turn the key, push the lock switch or use the remote.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but the way I read it, if the Security System is ON (via Techstream or the scanner as per version 2 of the PDF - Thank you, by the way!), any locking of the vehicle will arm the alarm. Is that true? If yes, I hope there is a door opening-closing procedure to turn the alarm (not the passive arming, but the alarm itself) off and on.

ok, what will your nurse look like when you open your poultry dental clinic?

Thanks - my alarm, GBS and hood switch now works!!!

I had my dealer activate mine gratis because of all the other stuff they screwed up. I had to go to the original "accessory guy", though - the service department blew me off (jerks)!

BTW, they used a laptop-sized Snap-On programmer so a TechStream isn't the only option (i.e. any well-equipped Toyota shop).

Word of advise, the install PDF says start on 5 sensitivity but for the Tundra start on 8 and I had to set mine to 10 for the glass tap method to work.

Anyone care to guess how the hood switch plays in this confusion? Does it need to be activated, too?

I hate to have to go to the dealer to get this stuff activated - they screwed up so many things on dealer add-ons I'll likely never go back...
I give up! I know this is going to make me look stupid but what in the world is a hood switch and what does it do?

Makes the alarm go off if the hood is opened.

I think it has to do with getting to the battery or the alarm to deactivate it.

You are going to need the hood switch to get the factory remote start to work.

I just don't have an urge for a remote start at this time, lucky me, unlucky Sparks!

Thank you to everyone here --especially Stanton49 and Mark at Sparks!

Since I have a Limited, it was just plug and play! I used Stanton's directions and pictures so it worked like a charm.

I set the sensitivity to 8 and it makes you jump as soon as you tap the window.

No activating for me.

Now I am thinking about that hood switch...
