Unless I am mistaken, these instructions are for adding the glass break sensor. The basic alarm is activated by hooking up the dealer scanner and simply enabling it on the menu.
I do not have the gbs, but my dealer enabled my alarm for me as described above.

Good to know when I install mine. I've noticed, too, that the GBS can be put in without removing the lower panel. A very, very small screwdriver can be used to pry the blank out. This is how I found the pre-wiring for the seat heaters.
