you will need the little ECU box and the microphone to make the GBS work, since you do have the alarm system it will be a plug and play for you.........
lucky dog you are...........

I'm in the same boat with my 07 Tundra Ltd Crew Max. I did the roll down your window, set the alarm, wait 60 sec and open the door test and the horn went crazy. But I don't have the GBS. Gulf States didn't install it. The GBS thru the dealership is $166 and installation is $170.
What does the little ECU and GBS mic cost? And all I have to do is get a plastic tool to pry-off the cap between the AUX and passenger heater switch, plug in the GBS..........or do I have to take off the cover to install the little ECU?
I heard the GBS should be set up to 8 to detect a tapping noise on the glass. Is this correct?
Lastly, can you add a vibration or movement sensor (like when someone taps your door or looks into your window moving the vehicle) to the RS3200?
I just got an aftermarket remote start unit installed in my SR5 and want to install a RS3200 also. The remote start came with a new 3 button key fob that locks unlocks doors and starts truck.
Anyone know if the RS3200 and GBS will still work with this setup?????????????
BTW when I approached my local Toyota dealer and asked about the RS3200 they said it was only for 2003 models.
Confusion runs amok with this thing.
There has been a lot of misinformation in this thread.
I have an 07 SR5, not Limited. Alarm was not on my window sticker, but remote start was. I had my dealer hook up the scanner and scroll through the menus. Sure enough, the alarm option was there but turned off. They turned it on from the scanner menu, set the options for self-arming I wanted from the scanner menu, and I was set.
So now I have the factory alarm that works as advertised in the owner's manual. GBS would be an add-on. Since my truck had the alarm but required enabling, and the GBS kit from Toyota apparently does not include the basic alarm, just GBS, it would seem that all the Tundras have the electronics for the alarm with the option to add the hardware for GBS.
You cannot tell if you have the alarm simply by doing the door test. If you watch the red arming light in the middle of the dash, it works the same regardless of whether you have the alarm enabled. I read about the red arming light in my manual, and it's operation was identical before and after the dealer enabed my alarm.
Bottom line: until you hook up the scanner and scroll through the menus, you don't know for sure whether or not you have the option of simply turning on the alarm. My guess is it's there; it worked for me. Once the alarm is enabled, GBS add-on should be relatively easy.
So, make friends with your dealer and have them hook up the scanner with you there watching and selecting the options you want. It takes no more than 5-10 minutes if you get a tech who knows what he is doing. The one option that sticks in my mind is how long for automatic arming. The choices were 0 seconds, 30 seconds, or not at all. I chose the 30 second option: 30 seconds after closing the last door, the alarm is on (you can tell my the change in the red arming light top center of the dash), but the doors do not auto-lock. Sorry, but I do not remember if auto-door lock with alarm arming was one of the menu options; I think it was, but I did not want this option.
The factory alarm works great, I do not understand why Toyota doesn't enable it on all trucks and just jack the price another $150. Marketing I guess. Good luck with yours. I hope you find a dealer that is cooperative about hooking up the scanner. Even if you had to pay $45 for 1/2 hour labor, it would be worth it because it is a good alarm. You would spend a lot more to get an equivalent aftermarket system.
BTW, my dealer's service manager and advisors were unaware they had the ability to so easily enable the alarm, but they were willing to try. We all learned from this. The tech jumped right to it on the menu; he was the one that asked me which options I wanted on the alarm (auto-arming, etc.), so he had obviously done this before.
Thats good info daniel.... and yes this thread is confusing.
my dealership is totally clueless about the security system on this truck...I'm going to print out your post and take it the service manager there...hopefully the proceedure will penetrate his rock hard head.
Thanks
The information we have is that the only trucks that CAME with the theft deterrent systemwas the Limited, the SR5's would not, unless the dealer/customer,ordered it that way.
you can look on your window sticker, in the interior section, at the bottom it will say theft deterent system, if it's not there then MOST LIKELY you do not have one.
Below is how the security light will act when arming/ disarming the theft deterent system. if it doesn't act like this then you do not have it.
This is copy/pasted from Toyota TIS2, the same instructions any Toyota dealership can see, this is what the Techs go to when they need insight on the operation of anything for a Toyota.
6. SECURITY INDICATOR OUTPUT
(a) The security indicator turns on and off based on output signals from the main body ECU. However, in some cases, the actual status of the security indicator is different from the output signals of the main body ECU. Output
State of Theft Deterrent System
Security Indicator..........Output Signals from Main Body ECU............Actual Lighting Condition
Disarmed state .............OFF.................................. ....................OFF (Engine immobiliser system not set) BLINKING (Engine immobiliser system set)
HINT:
When the engine immobiliser system is set, the security indicator blinks during the disarmed state and the armed state due to the output signals from the engine immobiliser system.

Do not think it will, kind of a conflict thing maybe.........
Mark,
any chance you can hook up the scanner to an SR5 without the theft deterrent system listed on the window sticker and prove or disprove if they are "built in". I have heard two people now with experience switching the system on with the scanner. I have the GBS system I bought from you in, but my local dealers seem clueless and unwilling to experiment.
Thanks

we have one that didn't come with the theft on it here, a salesman has it, we try to get that done on Tuesday(monday is to busy), no time today. and we will try that, already had it in the works...........
I bought what I thought was going to be the alarm plus glass breakage sensor on ebay. It was advertised as being a security system. However, I am now pretty sure it is just the gbs for the limiteds or for the SR5s that had the alarm added as an option. I am also pretty sure the seller thinks he is selling the security system as well. Sounds like this is a widespread problem. You would think Toyota could give a little better description to their parts so as to not confuse everyone.

So I'm confused...the "alarm" can be activated using the Techstream? Then simply plugging in the GBS will supplement the alarm?
if your truck has an alarm then it's on from the factory,if you ordered your truck with remote start, the it has to have the alarm on it to work properly,(as per the techs in the shop) but the alarm can be turned off??? ( techs again), if you looked at the operation check of the security light and yours stay the same with no changes then you don't have an alarm, if you have an alarm then the GBS is a plug and play.
so confusing.......
