Gotta be Toyota, tech-stream or hand held reader, as I am told. really not to many parmeters to play with, if you want passive then turn it on with a delay, but keep in mind, if your keys are in the house and your truck is unlocked and you get something out the you have your entry delay(14 sec.s or 30 sec.s) time to get in and disarm the thing before your neighbors shoot you. Then you have you GBS sensor on or off, and thats really about all you can tweek.

What about non-Limited Tundras Mark? Do we or do we not already have the hardware for the Alarm?

Ok, here goes. Now this is from Toyota, keep in mind now every question has been asked by me, (I think ) so, this was the answer they gave for all the questions. I.E. tape recorder type deal.

read----->

Alarm/GBS/Security System: The Latest Story!!

If you have a V-8 Tundra with Keyless Entry AND Engine Immobilizer then the following pertains to you.

You Have part of a Security System on your vehicle and you will need to add the Glass break Sensor (GBS) and then have your Toyota Dealer activate the alarm system with the Tech -Stream tool. When That's complete, you will have a Security System consisting of an Alarm and Glass Break Sensor. The system cannot be activated at home.

NOTE: iF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE 3 THINGS LISTED ABOVE, THEN YOU DO NOT HAVE A SECURITY SYSTEM AND THE ACTIVATION PROCEDURES ABOVE DO NO PERTAIN TO YOU.
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE AND HAVE ACTIVATED YOUR SECURITY SYSTEM THEN THESE PROCEDURES DO NOT PERTAIN TO YOU(MOST LIKELY THE LIMITED TRUCK OWNERS).

Mark.............

Now we are just the messengers with this. Please don't shoot me, I have doughnuts to eat in a minute.

PLEASE READ IT TWICE.

ALSO, OUR EMAIL IS FIXED NOW*** I LIED, IT'S STILL SCREWED UP

We have the latest version of the installs up on our site, with the activation instructions in it.

Just in case your dealer may need them that is.

I have heard the same answer from other dealers. My only remaining question (having to do with my off-thread above) is: How exactly does the dealer 'activate' it? I have a pretty reasonable relation with sales, a great relationship with parts, but the service department... Is it one the customization parameters in that PDF that is floating around?

Oh, and a big thank you for sticking your neck out and doing the research!

yup, go to our site and look up the GBS and go to the upper right corner and get the installs, it's all right there.

Mark:

I can't open the link in your post with IE or Firefox and the link to the instructions on your site seems to be the same pdf as before (i.e. no specific parameter settings).

Am I missing something? To enable "normal" mode (not passive), just toggle the GBS parameter on and that's all? I don't see anything else specific to the alarm section in the "Customize Parameters" pdf floating around other than "Warning by Horn" (pg. IN-22,23).

BTW, thanks for the legwork.

Mark,

Great job on working with us to find out about the alarm.
I thought all V-8s came with keyless and immobilizer but I guess I was wrong.

Is it possible to add motion sensor instead of the GBS to the alarm on the truck?

You all are so funny. I told you a long time ago that my dealer activated the alarm on my SR5 for me with the scanner. It wasn't on the window sticker, but the truck had it just the same.

I'm glad that a "more reliable" source has confirmed this for you. Still need to find a tech that knows what he's doing to find the right menu to activate it. Good luck.
