In my previous line of work I was employed by a BMW dealership. Compared to an M3, M5, M6, 335i, 535i, 550i, or a 750i our trucks are dog *** slow. Not to mention some of the cars we got in on trade. I remember fondly a (996) 911 Turbo, that was broken in. Dropping the hammer on that felt like being shot out of a damn cannon from a dig, or any other speed. My other favorites were the new M5 and M6, once the wick was lit on that 5.0L V10 those cars will run away from damn near anything. I don't just mean start to pull, I mean become a spec on the horizon in front of you.
Even the run of the mill twin turbo inline 6 in the 335i, and 535i will easily outrun a 5.7L Tundra. Not to mention the silly gains those cars can get with a little electronic tuning.
Personally I believe Self Righteous people are far more dangerous then anything history has seen at a Street Race.
Self Righteous people have killed far more innocent people throughout history then cars ever will.
Mind your own business and get some self respect for gaawds sake
Well Here We Go Again. Well, I Know What Fast Is And For Its Size And Purpose, Thistruck Is Darn Fast. Its Quick Off The Line And Pulls Good To 100. I Have An 83 Porsche With A Chevy Drag Built 327 Bored To 333ci. I Dont Know What The Rest Of You Drive But This Car Will Freakin Make Your Hairline Recede When Crack Down On It. Everyone Keeps Talking Bout Doing Low 90's In The 1/4 Try Doin It In An 1/8 Mile Track. Well That's What Mine Will Do In 215/60 15" Flippin Turanza Crapola Street Tires When The Suspensin Was Weak As Kitten And About Draggin The Mufflers Everytime I Shift. Havent Had It Back Since The Tire And Suspension Upgrade But Lord Have Mercy. Point Is, Each Car/truck Has Its Purpose And Strong Suits And This Truck Excels In Multiple Areas. Btw-----i Race When I Get The Chance.... Conditions Permitting!!!! I Dont Even Know Why Im Posting This Cause It Will Only Be Heck To Pay But Hey,,, Wanna See What Our Net Nannies Have To Say. Wish There Was A Stinkin Button To Turn Them Off Too. Haha
The 335i is not that pricey with reasonable options. No more than a Limited Crew Max in fact. It's just a lot faster, but it can't haul 1500lbs of stuff or tow 10K lbs.
street racing is illegal but come on people all of us on here get on our truck from time to time. I mean its not like we have 10 sec trucks out there doing wheel stands leaving stop lights. We have 14 sec pick up trucks that are fun to drive but by no means oh so powerful.
A low 14 will get you about 2/3 wins at typical street legal drags. That is fast and respectable considering it is off the showroom floor and can tow almost 11000 lbs.

The 335i is approaching 40K, an RCSB Tundra with 5.7 is around $24K. Only five tenths slower in the quarter mile, half the price. No alligator on shirt.
Just think of it this way. The racers are mostly in their late teens and early 20's, late 20's at most. Once these guys hit 30, they'll begin to understand their own mortality and hopefully have by then grown out of a pretty immature way for thrills.
Lots of people get killed b/c of this irresponsible way to drive, many innocent people get killed. That's sad, and racers should think about people who are just on their way to work, or on their way home from a nice out with their family, etc. It's the saddest thing when I see innocent bystanders killed. IMO.
All kidding aside, my take on "Whats up with the Drag Racing Post?" is this:
you are browsing a forum dedicated to the Toyota Tundra i.e. bolt on's, mod's and the like. It's a forum - an open public place.
Now remember, this is America and with that you get baseball, apple pie and gas guzzeling big blocks. We invented hauling a$$ around around a circle and a straight line. This country spends more money on our vehicles performance than many countries gross domestic product. So my point is simple, racing will always be here in all it's forms weither legal or not, safe and dangerous. Driving on public roads carries an inherent danger, people will race and innocents will die, it's sad but unstoppable.
I can go on and on about how more people die from traffic accidents other than racing and smoking kills thousands a year or that land mines kill or maim 15,000 a year but then all the "Drag Racing Posts" would seem so moot and melodramatic.
Life is too short to worry about my post on racing a S/C Titan and hanging with him.*

Go Gator's (again and again and again)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lay off, don't you realize that people with an incomplete understanding of physics need to have fun, too. Don't blame the victim. It's not their fault if they aren't educated and can't read the stories in the paper about all the stupid accidents from street racing.
And so what if they wipe out a family while trying to prove they're better than someone else, even if they didn't design or build the truck? They paid for it, which proves they're superior. Well, maybe not yet, since it's all borrowed money anyway. So, basically, being able to at least temporarily make payments on a truck that is a fraction faster than another one is how we determine who's better. In fact, we should consider electing presidents that way.
Besides, owning a home or having a savings account or fancy stuff like health, disability, life, and other insurance is overrated compared to the absolute thrill of pushing a gas pedal and skillfully steering a vehicle in a straight line through town.
And if they do have something unexpected come up, like a school bus pulling out in front of them, or a car stopped just over the crest of that hill waiting to turn left, I'm sure that stellar .75g skidpad rating and high center of gravity will save them. 35 or 40 thousand deaths a year is a small price to pay for freedom (and bragging rights), man!
Lightning yes SRT-10? no. Are these built to streetrace? I doubt it. Do you think the Tundra is a drag strip truck too. That's the #1 thing I hear about this truck is it's fast.
I think Toyota shot the wad on the drivetrain trying to build speed and power into it and forgot about the rest of the truck.
The funny thing is the drivetrain has been the least reliable area on this truck so far.
Lightning and SRT 10 are basically race trucks. With little mods the lightnings can run 11's. That is not bad for a 5k truck. Tundra is fast for what it is, and every day truck. It's not a race truck, it's not even a sports truck. It's just and every day truck that out muscles all the other 1/2 tons except for the SS Chevy, SRT10 and the Lighnting. These are all sports trucks. I will let you know about the drive train. This is my first import and probably my last. Don't get me wrong, I like the truck.
They are rediculous to begin with but lately every kid on here is bragging about how they race other vehicles on the street.
First of all, thats illegal. Secondly, its very dangerous to do that on public streets. They are not only endangering themselves but the well being of the other drivers and pedestrians in the area.
Is there any way we can put an end to these posts? I dont see how they serve any purpose except for the people posting to compensate for certain things.
I certainly dont mind posts where they take their truck to a track and post the results. Thats a controlled environment thats set up for this type of thing. Street racing is not controlled, cars pulling out, kids out playing, etc...
I enjoy this forum as it helped me make up my mind to buy a Tundra. I continue to browse the forums for ideas for my truck but these posts are so rediculous and redundant that I am starting to look elsewhere for my source of information.

By "SS Chevy" do you mean the Silverado SS performance bus? It manages low 15s or a bit better depending on which magazine you read, which would be destroyed by a 5.7 Tundra, and would even have to watch its back from a Gen 1 Tundra in one of its lighter variants. I hate the Silverado SS performance bus.
