You can set it to what ever your heart desire is with the TR-7 unit, your just setting the pulse count before it does a single pulse to the relay which activated the open actuators. If your stock like me just set pulse count to 3 since I have the stock setup of unlock (opens drivers door), unlock again (opens all doors and tailgate), unlock again (nothing), unlock again (pops the tailgate open). Just remember I tapped into the wire that goes to the rear doors thats why the odd pulse count number. If you have your set to open all doors on a single unlock which can be factory set too from what I understand, you just set the pulse count to 4 then. That should do you unless I miss understood your question.
Let us know how it turns out.

Well I think I got the finalized version for now for everyday human consumption so if you like a copy see the 1st post (look for the update) and this should tell you how to obtain it. For some odd reason I guess the PDF to large for me to just post it here sorry.

Okay since I am tired of emailing the file and issues with the file size with some peoples email services. I decided to toss up a quick website to download this file and other PDF's files of other Tundra related things that I thought would be good information to share, so enjoy....
PDF Files: Tundra.zapto.org

Let me know if anyone has any issues......

Thanks

If the truck will not allow you to lock or unlock with the fob while the engine is running, why would you need a relay for the open. or is that function connected to different wires. So is the relay necessary? thanks

Hmmm not sure I understand the question fully but the relay is not used for the tailgate lock and unlock function its used as part of the auto tailgate trigger since the TR-7 unit has a low output current rate. I am using the relay to increase the current for safety reasons as to not overload the TR-7 output circuit. To my knowledge you can still use the keyleess key fob when the truck running so not sure if that answers part of your question too.

Sorry for the confusion WT, i was just curious. I would like to ask you though, why you used the "pistol" type actuators. I have quite a few of the other type (542N). Could i just use three of those? I was thinking you were using the relay to disable the connection to the two actuators while the truck was running so for the heck of it i tried to unlock while i was stopped at the light and it did not work. So i figured that i didnt need the relay.

Ahh no problem I just wanted to be sure I answered your question correctly. As for the actuators that do the auto open feature I used pistal type cause there easy to come by and usually cheap to buy. So yes you can use what you have laying around just make sure what ever you use for the tailgate lock and unlock has at least a 1" throw and pull or you have problems with it locking and unlocking right. Not sure if you made a typo on the part number of 542N since I couldn't find anything on that number on the net so if you ment 524N then they will work fine.

Cool. I hope you mean 1" full retract to full extend. I have one off an 4runner liftgate for the lock/unlock so i hope that one works, and i have two new dei 524N's that i was going to use. i thought i would try those and if they didnt work then all i would be wasting would be time. but it is ironic because the morning before i found this thread i was in the cold having to fumble for my keys to unlock my tailgate and i was cursing that they should have made it keyless if they are going to put a camera back there anyways. Thanks for all your help, I will let you know if i get it right. by the way i noticed we are fellow McGeorge buyers .

Yes to the 1" of movement. I have to agree don't know why Toyota didn't add this or a optional button on the remote like they have for other cars in there lineup.
Oh yeah noticed that too fellow McGeorge buyer...
Well if you run into any problems setting this up let me know your not to far away and can get free hands on help if needed.

Okay, Im done!!!!! Everything works great, Now that i have hooked it up and understand the relay, i understand how my questions were confusing. Since i changed my truck to all unlock on 1 press i programed the tr7 to open on the third pulse within one second. The reason i did this is because if i hit lock three times the tailgate opens also. Do you have any knowledge as to wy this may be. the only thing that is hooked to the unlock(gray) wire is the locking actuator. But if i press lock 3 times or unlock 3 times it will open. Its not that big of an issue but it does have me wondering. if you hit lock/unlock on the door panel three times it opens too. I thought that was kind of cool. But do you know if there is a way to only make it open on unlock presses. ........You have been so helpful and i am really grateful. Next weekend is hooking remote start up to the panic button. Hope that works out well
