TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Long Service Times", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am having really long service times at my dealer (Precision in Tucson) and wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same. Had it in for 5000mile service and oil change and was there for about 3 hours. Had it in to replace the silver dash for air vent repair and it took ~4 hours (though they also checked my tire sensor lights for the third time).
Granted these were both on Sat's but I had appointments and was there 30 mins before they opened to drop off my vehicle.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Will.

Mine at Longmont was right around an hour and I dropped it off about 20 minutes early. It helps to know someone at the dealership. They treated me well and I didn't even buy my truck there.

If they knew you were a "waiter" and had promised you a better turnaround then I'd be looking for another dealer.

as a toyota tech i have to say the new 5.7L in the '07+ tundra's are a Pain to do the oil change on and take about 2-3 times as long as an average car. Toyota thought it would be a great idea to use a PLASTIC oil filter housing and then torque it on the truck about a million foot pounds and then put a newly designed skid plate that has to be slid to the side to remove to access the filter. The 2UZ-FE "4.7L" is much less time consuming.
yeah i do the 4.7's all the time on a lift with ease, but i did my oil change on my DC 4.7 while laying on my back the other day for the first time and it sucks. It would have been much easier had i drove on some ramps, but i figured the truck is big enough. Just remember to start the skid plate bolts by hand nice and good before putting any power tools on them, they like to strip out easy.
Wow, 30 to 45 minutes for an oil change at mine, had it done there twice now. Wife and I drove over to Camping World while we were waiting and they called me to pick it up before we made it down the 2nd isle.
Won't be taking it back for oil changes no more, they want to charge extra for the 0w-20. I'll just do it my self.

Tundra was in and out in less than an hour but I schedule Wed afternoon only . Just scheduled my Lexus this morning for this afternoon. They said 2 hours for the service but will give a loaner. I'll hit the new Cabelas with their gas!
My 5000K was done on a Saturday morning... I did have an appointment. Exactly 40 minutes and she was back in my hands. Toyota of Boone, Boone NC. Very good dealership.
