This is a discussion thread titled "Missing plastic gutter piece", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Anyone else lose the plastic gutter piece on roof on driver side. Got back late Saturday night from a trip to J-Ville on I-95, Speeds about 90 most of the way. Sunday morning washed and waxed the Tundra and found that the 4ft. piece missing. The strip is secured by small clips which apparently failed somehow. Stopped at the local dealer this afternoon and they are going to order me the piece plus two new clips. It will be replace under warranty as long as they install it............
Noticed I had lost mine over the last week some time. My friend actually pointed it out to me. I called the dealership and they ordered the part over the phone and called me today to let me know it was in. I'll have a new one tomorrow.
Mine is due in Thursday. Guess I will have it put on Saturday. Very strange to say the least..................Parts guy said it was likely lost in a car wash but I wash my own vehicles especially after reading their disclaimers about not being responsible for any damage caused by car wash.
Just ran out to check mine - they are still there. Now I'm a little leary about going to an automatic car wash. I don't have the time (or well) to do hand washes.

One of mine came flying off in one of those touchless car washes a few weeks ago. I heard it come off and drove it over to the dealer to have them reinstall it and document it. I was not really surprised because the truck sits really close to the high pressure nozzles and those industrial blowers. Now I just make sure to check em after each wash.
I don't go through automatic carwashes (wash by hand in a bay), but I've noticed mine coming off as well. Also, it looks like it isn't even made for the truck...there's huge gaps between the front and rear halves. I thought these things use to be all one piece?

My D/C is also like that at least on the passenger side. Driver side has a real large gap now. Curious to know why they would do it that way. Does not make a lot of sense to me............
