What a great write up. Well written.
I learned something from your write up as well. That little yellow LED on the side of the center consol near the insertable ashtray. I've never know what it was for cause I've never removed that ashtray. If the light is strong enough to illuminate the cup area, that is real cool. Tonight I'll try it.
As for the garage door opener, I have a gate system as well as a garage door to open, son I have two buttons programmed. My buttons don't seem to take much force to operate, so I just learned not to push them hard to cause the mirror to go out of alignment. However, I do tend to fumble at night for the right button. If there was some way each one would be illuminated that would solve it. My 2000 Cadillac has a different system overhead, but even there, there is no button lights.

Just at note on the voice activated controls. If you just push the talk switch it will assume you are giving it a voice command for the gps. If you want to use a voice command to dial with Bluetooth, then you need to push the offhook button first to get it in "telephone"mode. Finally, if you want to call a number by saying "Home" or "John Q. Public" then you will need to set up voice tags on your address book entries. Once you get everything set up, it works quite well.

You all mite be jumping to conclusions on the rumble strip thing on the 08. I have not herd of any 08's doing it and in my area there hasn't been any 07's. As far as the little lead lite on the front of the console. There is one on the bottom of the rear view mirror that shines down on the center console. I thought that was a neat thing.

Haha! I really dont care about the rainsense wipers, have heard others ask about it though (the GMs have it). But it does bring up another little issue I have, same as on my wife's minivan. The intermittent wipers do not have enough play in them. There are only 4 or so settings, and the slowest setting (longest interval between wipes) is not slow enough for a real light mist.

Rear cups - yes, I forgot about the 2 in the middle - but I have a carseat strapped over the top of that. I am sure my boys will just toss their drinks on their sisters lap...

Just press the MODE button on the steering wheel for a couple of seconds - it turns the Audio Off... press again to turn it back on. While it does turn if off, it effectively acts as a Mute button.... it's a hack anyway.

There has been discussiong (possibly just wishful thinking) within the dealership. I received the information on models for 2008 (as we were pre-loading them into our DMS) and we saw nothing of the sort. So, unless they are planning on a release mid year or for 2009, it does not appear to be the case. But that would put them in contention with the Dodge Ram MegaCab (only available on the 2500/3500 Heavy Duty I believe). It would be a nice option for those of you who utilize your vehicles as work trucks. Perhaps when Toyota does take the plunge into the diesel/heavy duty line up we'll see something similar?

And the post was great by the way. I have "issues" with my truck, but it's all little things that just personally bother me. The one thing that personally bothers me the most is that I did not step up and just get the CrewMax. That's my only regret this year. But hell, it's a lease. I can live and learn!

you can control the rear seat dvd by just clicking on the nav screen when you're on the dvd screen

So when I am looking at the DVD screen (which shows a DVD in the background and some chapter/time information on top) - then press the Nav button?

I did figure out this weekend how to get the video up front (without the mod/hack) by pressing on the parking break, and that gives me access to the controls (pause, play, etc). My wife and I are not too interested in watching Spiderman vs Doc Ock while we drive, we just want to be able to pause the movie while we go.

I'll play around with this suggestion, thanks!

Make sure the parking brake is engaged if you want to view the DVD on the front screen.

I have noticed another little annoyance. When driving at night, the P R N D S indicator lights are reflecting off the drivers side outside mirror. Its a little distracting. But maybe its by design - because since that gauge is not angled towards the driver seat, I cant see those lights anyway, so maybe I am supposed to see them in the mirror!

I love the fact that every one of the criticisms leveled against this truck are things that are so minor a bafoon such as myself would never even notice.

DrQ- if you're someone like me, it's all the little things that I do notice...HOWEVER even every little issue I have with my truck, I love it and wouldn't trade it! And in three years, I'll very likely be signing another Toyota contract for another truck...

The little annoyances go away when I get into the truck and I look at the great color of my leather, the nifty little features it does have (as opposed to some of the ones it doesnt) and whatnot...It's a GREAT truck. No vehicle in the world is without flaws.

I agree with you Dave...with every day that goes by, I make new discoveries like the center console top that moves 2 or 3 positions forward for more comfort! Plus all the Bluetooth features I keep finding...but your right...It is a great truck! B.

The sales man I talked to today said that the crewmaxis also offered in a longer bed then before not such a big deal to me.
