Default Tundra off road success

Took my 07 Tundra into the forests of Gunnison CO recently for my annual elk hunt. Was the first time I had it off road since I purchased it. I was extremely pleased with its overall performance. I loved the ease of changing transmission gears (I have the automatic) on steep uphills and downhills. The terrain was dirt roads. Overall grade for power and performance, A.

Minor nuicances:
1. Would have been nice to have another 2 inches of ground clearance. I put nerf bars on for easier entry/exit of vehicle, but bent the mounting brackets. Oh well.

2. The mirrors.........has anyone ever seen mirrors that stick out that far, cmon now. For in city driving, the mirrors are fine. But for off road, I don't know how many times we had to reach out of the window and pull em back in so we could get by a tree. Thankfully the mirrors are pretty easy to pull back from the inside of the cab.

3. Tire chains....glad I didn't need them. Many times in the past we have needed to chain up to safely navigate the icy backcountry roads. I noticed that teh owners manual says "NO CHAINS ON FRONT". I got under my vehicle and sure enough, there about an inch clearance on the inside of the tire.. I bought a pair of cables for the front anyway, didn't have to use them thankfully.

Again, minor problems, but I was verry pleased with the hunting performance of my truck. Sorry, no blood stains in the bed this year, maybe next year the weather will be more cooperative.

I have an '07 DC Limited. My truck came with electric folding mirrors. Just a push of a button and they both fold in.

If you don't have it, I guess its an option but it is handy - even in the city when parking in a tight parking space!

Now that's what a truck is for. Not a grocery getter, that can be done with a camry.
