The climate control again pops out easily and then undo the wire harnesses. Once the climate control is out you will see four 10mm bolts holding the radio in place. Unscrew those bolts and the radio pulls out with a few clips and again undo the wire harnesses. Fit and finish is very tight on these trucks so be carefull not to force anything out and scratch the dash. If you follow that guideline, it should only take about 10 mins or less to get all that out. Once the radio and glove boxes are out you'll see the plastic piece perfectly.

How do you access these clips? Do you just pull the three large knobs off or is there more to it than that? I don't want to break the knobs while pulling them off.

Good stuff by the way. I had the thing apart this week and found what I thought was the rattle. The duct that rests on the metal brace to the left of the lower glove box seemed like the culprit. I'll get back in and see if I can figure this out from your pics and description.

Sounds like youre looking in the right area. Ok, for the climate control you dont want to pull off the knobs, well at least on the Limited's you dont. I'm not sure about the SR5's. The knobs stay on and the entire climate control assembly comes out. You'll have to pop a few clips out on the right side of the silver instrument panel trim. Start from the bottom and work youre way up. I think theres only a few then you'll have enough room to pull out the climate control.

Hope that helps,

Mark

I wish that this had solved my problem... I stuck my arm up in there and everything felt really solid.... but I still have an incredible rattle on cold mornings that lasts for about 20 minutes.

Hey guys I have this nattering sound coming from the passenger seat area of my 07 DC, but it only happens when my wife is sitting there and it only happens if the vehicle is moving or standing still.
Does anyone have a cure or seen a TBS for this??

Please help me??

I've had this creaking cold dash problem as well but I noticed something else and wonder if anyone else has seen it. If I look at the dash where it meets the pillars near the windshield I see that it sags a 1/4" on the passenger side but is flush on the drivers side. I probably would never had noticed it if I weren't looking for the noise.

UPDATE*** Ok, the tick/rattle noise slowly disappeared???? It was up near the lower windshield and or defrost vent. Then I started to get a sharp vibration rattling under the glove box area, this is now really bad and annoying. Could this possibly be the same culprit as above? I am scheduled to take to dealer on Friday, I'll update once I get the results back. Truck is sweet other than the little pings.

Hey everyone, just wanted to throw in my two cents...I had a similar noise coming from what sounded like the winshield/dash area and finally narrowed it down to the overhead console where the lights and small storage compartments are. Ended up being a few loose wire connections within the console that were rattling around. Took it to the dealership, went for a drive with a tech and showed him when I pressed down on the passenger side of the console, by the light, the noise/rattling disappeared. They ended up removing the console and packing some foam up in there to rid of the noise. No rattling ever since! Hope that may help some of you because I too was irritated with any noise after paying 45K+ for a new vehicle!!

thanks jumbo jet for the info. truck is parked in garage, and didnt hear nothing this morning. when i got off work in was in the low 20's and this is the first time i heard this rattle. it went away after about 10 min. of driving. i thought it was pretty strange the rattle just went away after the truck warmed up real good. going to try your method this weekend. does anybody know why the rattle goes away after the truck is fully warmed up?

My guess is the expansion of metal/plastics when the truck gets warm. Mine goes away when its warmer than 30° outside, but is constantly making noise anything below that. I've traced mine to the clip that holds the dash in my the windshield, but I'm not motivated to tear it apart. I'm just waiting for the warmer temps! (it's -1° this morning!)

Update on mine. Again this is an 08 CM 4x4 SR5, the really loud vibration noise coming from what seemed to be under the glove box area mysteriously disappeared even when it hit -3 two days ago (and may it never return!). But.... the rattling coming from in the middle of the dashboard where the windshield meets is still there and completely annoying, I am going to dealer next week to drive it with a tech and get some resolution. The bulletin states that Tundra doesn't have the clips on the lower part of windshield, only the upper so perhaps it is that little piece of plastic, But... the sound is more like a loose bolt or clip pinging around every time I hit a bump, or a bad road it just rattles the entire time. Mine also hisses or wines under passenger side area when I hit it 4k RPMs or more and has the rumble strip issue, geez maybe I should just ask for a new one? we'll see.....

The rumble strip issue was fixed as of 1 Oct.... what's the build date on your truck?

Ive had this rattle since the temps started dropping. Mine is on the passenger side where the window meets the dash. I e-mailed the dealer to see if there is a TSB on this and to see when they can fit me in to have it looked at. If its to much of a hassle ill just get out there and try to fix it myself. Mine seems to be getting worse as time goes on and like others have said the dash sits lower on the passenger side where it meets up with the pillar.
