Frank, I was able to wire up my switch for the DRL's this past weekend - it worked like a champ. I took some pictures but they all came out pretty bad (no flash). Not sure if pictures are needed since your document was already very detailed - but the grey wire in pin #5 on the connector was definitely the right wire. I can now turn off my DRL's anytime I want! woohoo! thanks again so much for the help.

Just did the DRL thing this week on my truck. It worked flawlessly and looks great. Great job Frank on the instructions. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thank you for taking the time to do such a great write-up.
I have been planning to do this for a while but I was wondering if there was any way to make this work without running a wire from the headlight connector. Is there someplace that I could get the 'headlight on' signal under the dash? If it makes any difference, I have a Limited with auto headlights.

No, that is the only way. I have Limited too.
The first time the wire was not ran to the headlight, it worked, but there was one issue, when the headlights were coming on (auto) the DRL did not dim.

Sorry about my profile but I'm new at this. I've just wired my 2007 Tundra with this excellent wiring diagram and I'm waiting for the new flasher unit to complete this installation. My problem is that when I bought this truck it came to Canada with DRL"s hooked up to the low beams and I wanted it to work with the signal lights like in the instructions. What I discovered was the high beam lights were disconnected (the high beams were on all time & disconnected) The high beam switch will indicate them on and off but they stay on all the time no matter what position. so they are still disconnected at the lights. They had the 2 relays like we need for this hook up (didn't change flasher relay) but they hooked onto some wires at the ECU which I've changed and hooked the relays up different and also they ran the head lights on wire to the fuse box (I couldn't access inside the box and determine exactly were they hooked on but I assume the left low beam fuse instead of the green wire) - which I've corrected and until I did this the low beams kept working as DRL's. This truck has automatic light shut off which works fine but I was wondering if anyone would know what is happening with the high beams.
Mike
I HAVE drls and the auto lights on my truck. When the truck sits overnight and I turn it on in the morning the DRLS don't come on with it idling, in park, with parking brake on. Once I put the truck in Drive and pull the parking brake the lights come on. BUT after getting to work and engaging the parking brake and shifting it to park the DRLs stay on. Is their a timer on them? Even if i turn the truck off and turn it back on the drls come back on with the parking brake engaged and the shifter in Park.
Thanks
The DRLs have worked that way for ions, my 2000 Tundra has DRL and that is exactly how they work on it.

If you can't take it with ya, why bother with an RV!

all this drl issues are confusing me....i have a 2007 tundra sr5 in socalif.....
on mine, as from factory, the amber light is always ON when the engine is ON....whether i'm in D or Park..... i thought this was the factory DRL....albeit illegal apparently in calif as a DRL..... i certainly can't turn this off...which i wish i had the option of btw.....
the same thing happens in my 2010 sequoia limited..... the amber is always ON and it flashes when turn signal is engaged....
do they both have same flash relay? opened up the sequoia today and the OEM relay is HUGE with multiple pins....it didn't even look close to the LED relay i got from Vled....
Hi Frank,
I got a question for you: Can I do the same as in this link shows for a 4Runner 2004 on my 2008 Tundra Limited CrewMax V8 4x4 with DRL headligths Auto ?
Please let me know
well, you shouldn't have any issues with HID due to a DRL function....the H11 bulbs have no connection with the amber turn sig bulbs in a 2007 tundra....
but i do like that link/article...very well written...i think the new tundras have that similar mx function relay so that we can turn the DRL off/on via that method...
if you are getting a HID setup, make sure you get the kit with relay harness....alot of vendors in the past were/and are still selling the kits where the power to the ballast is directly sent from the orig bulb wirings.... that $20 relay kit will prevent wirings from wearing out due to high surge current on start up....
I am Canadian who just import a tundra 2007 from USA . To register the truck in Canada I must have the DRL. So I did exactly what you said . I was meticulus the way I did it . When came the time the test it , It did not work .Worst, I lost the flashers but not the 4 way flasher. Any idea what I did wrong ? Is it possible that there is an other fuse that the one mark : 4 way Flasher \Flasher
I am in the process of enabling the DRL on my 2008 SR5 double cab. The instructions you provide are very helpful, but I am a bit confused by the gray wire connection. The wiring diagram shows cutting the gray wire from J3 and making a connection between the gray wire of J29 and pin 87A of relay "B." The written instructions cut the gray wire from J29 and connect the plug-in end to pin 87A on relay "B." Could you please clarify before I proceed any further. If none of the wires of J3 are tapped, is it still necessary to unplug it from the ECU?
