TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "4X4 Front Drive shaft grease fittings", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Has anyone tried to grease their front drive shaft. The grease fitting on the u-joint closest to the transfer case is blocked by a frame cross member.. I hope there is " no disassembly" solution to this. Any help would be great. Thanks, Mike

There's a greese fitting made for tight places. Instead of fitting over the zerk, like a conventional one does, this one is pointed and you hold it up to (and push up against) the ball/hole on the zerk fitting on the driveshaft. You'll need a one-handed greese gun if you're alone.
I was able to grease everything with a standard flexible hose on a small grease gun. You may have to turn the front drive shaft a bit by hand to get at em. I was surprised to see only Five Fittings total - front and rear drive shafts. I was used to seeing 8 or so like on the older models. Good luck.
Is there only five fittings total?????

You're right about the front driveshaft zerks being a bitch to get at...I struggled for a couple minutes to get the fitting on and grease it, but then couldn't get the damn thing off! I used a flathead screwdriver to get the fitting off...I'm not looking forward to doing that again in 10k miles.
Rone, you can see the pics Dana shot here. There is a pdf somewhere on the forums, but I don't know how that search button is functioning after the move.

I do all 8 fittings every oil change but NM is a severe condition state due to sand dust and volcanic rock they use for roads here! I was told by Toyota that i could use Moly Lithium on all and to not use Lithium on all. Saves having 2 guns and 2 greases for no reason! looking for 07 PDF

Thanks mate. I pick up my Tundra tomorrow, and I want to have all the info organized and ready ahead of time.
