TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "2008 "rumble strip"", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I just picked up my new 2008 tundra dc 4x4 and on the way home I noticed the rumble strip problem is anyone else having this problem with a 2008, I know there are other post about it and I have searched them but could not find what the dealer was doing about it. Other than this I love my truck just want to know what I should do. Thanks in advance!

Well, let's see.....you say just bought your truck and on your way home you discover a driveability issue with it.
What do you think you should do (choose one)?
Option 1: Go home, sign on to TS and post on your "problem",
Option 2: Go back to the dealership to get it looked at?
It's a no brainer IMO.

Then you go to your dealer (40 miles) and they say "we are not aware of this problem". Then you ask them to test drive it and they say "we cannot replicate this problem". Then you drive back home (40 miles) and it happens three more times. Now you've wasted half a day.
Oh, and the problem still isn't fixed!
What I've done is just keep driving the truck. It isn't evidently a drivability issue, and it will either 1: get better or 2: get worse .
If it gets worse, I'll go back and hopefully they can also perceive that there's a problem.

I think everyone needs to relax here. Take a trip back to the dealer and speak with your sales guy about the issue. Don't go to service. Remember, you didn't fill out that dealership satisfaction survey yet.

Please remember that a lot of dealerships get bonuses or their pay plans are directly effected by the surveys the customer sends in. This problem may not have been the dealers fault. Please give them a chance to resolve the problem before hanging the dealership associate with the survey.
The sevice dept should have a resolutution for your complaint. Look at the date of the TSB I post earlier. It is new.

Thanks for TSB. Will print & bring next trip to dealer.
One little problem I have is I bought the truck in Duluth for about 20,000 reasons but need to service in Thunder Bay (Duluth is 200 miles away and I don't get there very often). So I'm stuck dealing with service department here.
It would be good if we got surveys for service. Sales are all very nice and of course they're happy to take your money, but when you run into problems you can be stuck. This is one reason I bought Toyota (reliability) so I don't have to spend my life driving back and forth to the dealership and getting the run-around. I guess we'll see. . .

Actually Toyota does send service surveys out as well. They tend to be a little more spaced out due to the number of service customers vs. sales customers.
Good luck with your new truck. I love mine. I am sure which ever dealer you decide to use for your service needs will take care of you.

You know what? I LOVE my truck. I'm sure I'm as subject to the "whatever I have now must be the best" phenomenon as the next guy, but this truck drives like a dream (except those infrequent rumblings of discontent from the TC).
Mileage isn't bad. Convenience features like Bluetooth, comfort of heated leather seats, very sporty acceleration off the line and passing is a breeze, heavy towing capacity, great sound system. I don't miss the old Dodge 2500 AT ALL.

What the TSB tell me, is that if you have the shudder and can live with it for a few thousand miles, wait and you'll get a free transmission flush and refill.

That's the truth. My dealer acted like the customer satisfaction survey was the end of the world for them. They bent over backwards to make me happy, and gave me a free auto-dim/Homelink/compass mirror because I suggested it instead of fixing a dime sized dent in the rear bumper. In the end, what do I care about a little dent. Give me a few months and I'll have a few more dents too. They even detailed my truck twice.
