TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Hunter bullbar & steps + varad light", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Hey there, had a good week for add-ons. Installed a Hunter SS bullbar and Hunter billet black steps. I like the looks and no matter what their quality is you can't beat the price. Just working on some lighting options for the bullbar. Will have two ditch lights plus a couple high powered pencil beams.
I also added a Varad alarm LED. The LED works great, lights up the cab real good in the dark and is very visible from all windows.
Check it out....
I'm going to loose the bottom front plate, sits way too low.
I really like the flat, wide step they offer. I'm probably going to cut the mounts and bring the bar up more towards the doors. I'll probably scrape bottom with these:

hey what type of radio did you install in your truck. Can you send me pictures of how you mounted the radio. I am a firefighter, paramedic in texas and im trying to install 2 uhf,vhf kenwood radios. Thanks
I have a TAD M10. Very hard to find now, but wanted it cause it has a self program mode (illegal but not bad when you're at the bottom of a logging road)

Regarding the LED light...did you attach the yellow wire to a grounded ign switch wire like the instuctions say or did you use something else.
How did u find a wire that grounded when ignition switch is off. Do u remember what wire it was????
Yes, just like the instructions say. The one I used was the power wire for the left cigarette lighter (in the centre cluster). It grounds off when the ignition is off. There is only that one and a ground on that accesory.

Had the same alarm installed, I also installed the Hunter bull bar, it is the only one I could find that would allow to keep the tow hooks. The price is also good, specially if you live in Houston area, you save the shipping.
Your truck looks real good.

Thank you very much!! Appreciate that!
You know, I tried to get them to take the shipping charge off, since I wanted to arrange my own shipping but they wouldn't budge. They said it was "included" in the price. I find that hard to believe so I had them ship it for "free" to me to a US address conveniently 1 block south of the Canadian border...

UPDATE: I tried mounting my lights and have to say that the light mounts that come with this bar are terrible. The lights will bounce around like crazy. The metal is way too thin, quite flimsy actually. I'll come up with my own tabs to mount onto the same spot. Oh well.
