This is a discussion thread titled "Air bags", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Which air bags do you recomend for towing? Seems that everyone has Air Rides or Firestones?? Whats the difference and is one better than the other?? Thanks Duane
Air Lift is another good manufacturer. I have some on order. Air Lift Company

I did airbag my truck towed my camper 2000 miles no problem at all. If you want something great ,try concrete roads you don't feel the cracks at all. I only use 20 lbs when towing 3to5 empty. Love my firestone airbags.
I put the Firestone Ride Rites in. Tows very well with 50 PSI, and I run at 10 PSI when empty. The ride with 10 PSI is way better than before I put the airbags in. I've never had bed bounce before but I have felt a little bumpy on washboard roads before the airbags and it's better now. I do have about 100 lbs of tonneau cover on and another 60 or 80 lbs of 5th wheel mounting rails and 50 more of rubber matting amounting to about 250 or so in the bed, so maybe that helps.

When fully loaded with my camper you could feel the seams in the concrete, it was awfull untill I air bagged my truck. After the air bags you could hear them but not feel them. AS far as empty I will never know if I have bed bounce or not I always have 2 to 3 hundred lbs. in my truck box covered by my cover.

I just received my air lifts in the mail, have not installed them yet. Quality seems good. Looks like a straightforward install.
Two thumbs up for trucksprings.com - very fast shipping and best price I was able to find - $209.
PS: I'd like to T the lines together and only have one valve to fill - what should I use for a T? Thanks!

Don't T them. Instructions with mine specified why -- but it has to do with side-to-side leveling and stability in turns? Anyway, it's not much more work to fill two. I ran my lines to the lower holes in the rear license plate. Very accessible there.

I have the Air Rides and they work great, I just hauled my 27' TT about 600 miles this weekend and since I had so much weight in the bed in addition to the tongue weight of the trailer, I hooked up the WDH for the trailer and then I aired up the bags to 20psi, leveled the bed right out.

Firestones on the crewmax, had Airlifts on the Sequoia take your pick. Got the Firestines cuz they were in stock.
Air valves on each side, above the tires, in existing holes in the frame. When i'm going to tow I need to fill each tire, so I'm already there with the hose.
I t'ed mine and hooked to a pump with all my weight in the center of the box I don't forsee any problems as my weight can't shift. I now have over 6000 tow miles on my air bags and love them. I will never do without them again.
Was planning on getting some air bags to provide a little added stiffness when towing. I guess I misunderstood air bags as supplimental suspension. I figured I could leave them empty (no air pressure) when not towing and have my normal, stock suspension setup (which is fine on my truck when not loaded/towing).
It sounds like, from previous posts in this thread, that this is not the case. Could someone clarify this for me?
I am also interested in running a sway bar as well (as mentioned by others earlier). Does anybody have this setup?
I have my two valves for airing up the bags mounted just left and right of my license plate. As to the question about airing up or down for loads, thats how it works, with no air in em your ride is soft and cushy, air em up for a heavy load and it adds support to your rear suspension, only takes a second or to with an air chuck.
