TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "How much do you pay a month?", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am looking for some relative help in the cost of getting a Tundra. I have priced it on the site, but wanted to poll some of the buyers out there who really went through the entire process. (i am fully aware it varies on credit and downpayments, etc...)
I want a 2008 Crewmax 5.7 fully loaded....rough cost is 45k.
For those of you who purchased something similar, what is your monthly payment? How much did you put down? How much did you trade in? What was the total gross cost of your Tundra?
$561, nothing down. SR5 CrewMax 5.7 4x4. Sticker 38.9k, OTD for 33 and change.
I couldn't afford the $560 - $580 a month and I hate giving up all that money in interest. My loan was only .1% more than the car loan and I'll be getting that back and more. I guess we all have our ways of dealing with stuff.....

Monthly payment has nothing to do with buying a truck, or price of a truck. If you approach a dealer salesman and say the words "monthly payment" you will get owned. Check out CarBuyingTips.com new car buying guide, avoiding dealer scams, new cars, used car buying , there is some good information there, also the enthusiast websites like edmunds and MSNautos, etc, should have some good tips on buying new cars.

my payment is somewhere in the low $500s a month.... five year. I am not being cagey, it's just the wife pays the bills, so I don't even think about it. it's worth it. I am paying $100 less a month than I was on my Ford F250 (which was three years older) and do not have the constant electrical and reliability issues that one gets with a Ford.

Exactly, I hate it when dealers ask what payment you are looking at. I look at bottom line, then depending on the OE financing, go their, or I find my own.

Not really. If you use a simple calculator, know the price you want to pay for the vehicle, the amount you want on your trade, and the financing you think you qualify for, then it's easy to calculate your payment. Then you can go into the dealer and say, "I want to pay this, make it happen." Then you read your buyer's order.
Nowadays, there really isn't ANY way to get "owned" as long as you READ your paperwork and understand the car-buying process...
Selling on "payments" is a salesmans best friend, for a reason, probably because many people don't fully read their paperwork and understand the buying process. Based on the first post, I think the OP will get owned if he goes to a dealer to make a deal based on payments, hence the helpful (hopefully) links to assist him.
