need some help on removing the door panel. i am wanting to do a mirror swap and get chrome front door handles. If its not too hard I am going to do it myself...............any help?
Its very easy. You have 2 phillips screws, one in the door grab under the small piece of carpet and one behind the inside door handle behind the piece of plastic trim. For the front doors, pop off the small sail panel first and then remove the two hidden screws. There is one push pin clip on the panel, use a small flat head screwdriver or paper clip to push in the little button so the clip pops out. Next you have to unsnap the small white clips holding the panel onto the door. I usually start at the bottom and pop them out with a panel tool. Once the bottoms are out the rest come out real easy by hand. Once you have all the white clips undone lift the door panel up and then away from the door. Next you have 3 wires to unclip, the power window, the speaker and the small courtesy light. I rest my panel on my rolling stool to support it while I undo the wires. They unclip very easily. Last thing are the 2 cables for the door locks and handle. When you reassemble the door, the white cable goes on top. When you put it back together, just reverse your steps.
Once you do it once, it'll take you a minute to do the others. Good luck
Does the door panel have to come off to remove the mirror? I also want to trade my mirrors for tow mirrors. Does the triangular panel with the speaker in it give access to the mounting screws and wire harness? I am afraid of breaking the clips when removing this panel. Any help
no it does not. Remove the tweeter assembly (small triangular piece of plastic, it just pulls off). From here you pull door panel forward a small amount. You can access all 3 nuts with a 10mm socket.
The door handles are removed at the side of the door.
No idea why you would want to take the door panel off, it is not necessary.
I installed my tow mirrors last week - 10 minutes, WITHOUT removing door assembly

No you do not have to remove the door panel to swap the mirrors and handles. As mentioned in a prior post, you just remove the sail panel (triangular trim piece). Your may or may not have a tweeter in it, depends on if you have the JBL system. Pop it off and the harness and 3 nuts are
visible.
The door handle just needs the plug removed from the door jamb. Find the post about chrome door handles and there is a description of the procedure.

Thanks for all the help. And where did the "Brit" comment come from? Born and raised in sunny Ca. I just removed the sail panel and the two bottom nuts are below the door panel. The door panel has an up-swing to meet the sail panel. Is this an 08 change?
The door panel should be lifted slightly and pulled forward to get to the lower two nuts.
Regards
A Bloody Brit

Thanks. Also, is there an easy way to remove the push pin fasteners for the door panel?
I just put a flat blade screw driver behind the panel and pry it of, it will pop out. Broke one, bought a replacement panel pin at the hardware store, works and looks better than the stock one.
I have pulled my door pnls off way too many times now LOL can do it in about 4 minuites. The drivers door control plug for the windows and stuff was hard at first till I learned from someone on here that all you do is pop the whole assembly off from the inside and undo the harness that way, very easy.

I have an 08 too and after removing the sail panel the other two nuts are still well below the door panel. What is the up-swing you mentioned? I'm not seeing it but it sounds real handy. Otherwise I'm thinking I have to at least partially remove my door panel ( I'lll remove all hardware and let it hang ) to install my mirror. Someone did the 'deinstall' with a rental truck!
the "upswing" I was talking about is just where the front of the main door panel turns up and meets the sail panel. If you push in the center of the push pin fastener it releases adn you can pop it out easily. Then you can pull out the door panel enough to get to the bottom 2 nuts on mirror.
