Default Which fuse for rear acc jack?

OK... I screwed up. I was installing a small fan to keep my ham radio cool and I was installing a switch to turn it on and off. I tapped into the wire that go to the accessory port (cig lighter) in the back of the center console. While soldering it to the switch, I touched the red and black wires and killed the circuit. I can't for the life of me fine the fuse for this. Its not on the same fuse at the front cig lighter and the dome lights.

I can't even find another accessory that is on the same circuit. Everything works. I'm starting to think its fused in the line, but I didn't see one. Does anybody know where this thing is fused? I'm on vacation this week and really don't want to go into the dealership.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Arrggghhh!!! Well, I found that fuse panel and carefully checked each and every one. None is blown. Not a single one. I can't figure it out. There is no power going to the accessory plug and I was mistaken... there is no power to the front one either. What am I missing?

Cliffy...a couple of things...based on above wiring diag, looks like all power for outlets 2 & 3 (hopefully both of those are the ones that are not working) gets routed thru the Power Outlet Relay which is in series with the 15A Pwr Outlet Fuse. The relay could be blown-out as well as the 15A fuse...

If you are sure the 15A fuse is good, make sure you ck the relay...might be your problem...hope this helps. B.

Cliffy...you probably already know this, but there is a LOT of energy that the battery is capable of putting out, thats what fuses are for, I know...however fuses often take a long time to blow, longer sometimes than other series components in the path could take...other things could blow 1st, leaving the fuse feeding outlets intact...just an fyi...B.

Don't know if this helps but.....

I plugged in 2 spotlights to this circuit & thought i blew something because they would not work all night. Never did shut the truck off that night.
Well, the next day they all worked fine. Dunno if they have an auto reset of some kind or what?

But reading what you did, you could have blown the relay.

OK... this falls under the category of "some things in this world you just can't explain." After wiring up the fan and switch, there was no power in those wires. None. I used my multi-meter to prove it. I also checked my other power plugs and again, no juice. Not only was the multi-meter showing nothing, the lighter didn't work, nor did my cell phone charger.

Something's blown, right? Well, 2 hours later I made a trip to the grocery store. Just for the hell of it, I hit the switch for the fan. Lo and behold, it came on! So did everything else. I don't get it. I don't care so much, but I just don't get it.

On the plus side, I now have a 3" brushless fan to cool my Icom IC7000 ham radio. The IC7000 is known for being very hot and I was able to do this completely hidden except for the small switch on the back of the console. The intake holes are in the rear cup holders so if they are folded up, you can't see them.

Sounds like you're out of the woods? This is exactly what happened to me while plugging in 2 spotlights.

There has to be some type of auto reset in that circuit. And after an alotted amount of time, it will reset.

Cool. Glad to hear your trucks all good.

I had to go back and re-read your post. I didn't notice that you had the same thing happen. Interesting stuff. When I get back to work next week, I'm going to see if I can find info on how this thing re-sets. That's sure what seemed to happen.

If the truck is turn off the power stops on the accessory plugs after 2 hours to save the battery. Just start the truck again and you will get another 2 hours of power.

I tried it with the engine running. That wasn't it.

Likely senario...after Power Source Control ECU sees an overload, electronic circuit(s) in ECU prevent Power outlet relay from engaging for either a particular period of time and/or truck turned off and then on again.

ECU probably looks to see if overload is still present and if gone, only then will allow relay to engage...if true, this is a pretty good form of controllable, automatically resettable protection...

If the relay fails to "open" when it's told to, there is always the 15A fuse as a failsafe. Enjoy...B.
