with that size of a boat, it's better the trailer should have that built-in/add-on breaking mechanism (I don't know what it called), but I have it on my trailer for 23ft cruiser (~6500lbs). So, whenever i step hard on the break, the trailer itself also breaks itseft and it helps a lot.
Damn Toyota!!! If they hadn't made that tailgate so weak, it would have stopped that boat cold.

The brakes had nothing to do with the boat sliding onto the truck. He rear ended another vehicle. The photo has been circulating on the Internet for a couple of months, and is also posted somewhere else on this Forum. There were about 3 additional photos that showed the complete accident, and the other vehicles. It was simply driver error, not magic brakes.
