I have an 08 GMC SLE (bench). I know it's a personal opinion and taste issue, but I think the new generation GMC bench seat interior is remarkably good. Instrument cluster is excellent. Layout is great. Colors, materials, function, the whole thing works really well. The interior is all dark color, dash is almost eurocar quality.
On the 2009/2010 front from Toyota, would like to see:
1) better instrument cluster
2) less use of the color light gray in the interior
3) rear differential seal redesign
4) body panel strengthening, including tailgate
5) regular cab availability
(Tried to locate a black interior regular cab short bed. Had no luck.)
That still leaves: tailgate, diff seal, panels, and instruments as areas
for improvment. (Not a knock against the Tundra. It's awesome already.
Just think it could be made better. Expecting nothing until at least 2010 though.)
I wouldn't be surprised if on the 2010 models they finally chin up a little bit and improve the radio cluster in the console. As well, they'll probably enlarge the upper glove compartment or add accessories which can be put in there by designing it with rails for ease of plug and play function, just like they do with the cup holders in the console by the shifter.
Predicted additions/deletions for 2010:
RCSA button - deleted to make it more integrated with the VSC button or modified into a sensitivity slider type switch.
Rear window button - relocated once again for ease of access and modified again from a pull/push type switch to a push button with up at top and down at bottom with the word "AUTO" imprinted in the middle.
2H, 4H and 4LO modes - modified to a push button model just like on the 1st gen Tundras but without the spring action, and addition of an "Auto" mode like they have in the Chevrolet Silverado/Sierras.
Rear Axle re-designed for less "axle wrap" condition along with the rear frame member rails being modified to reduce the "bed bounce" on concrete highways.
VSC algorithm - expanded to include true vehicle stablity in case vehicle is close to roll-over condition.
Console redesigned to become more of a flat design instead of the cylindral seperation design and the lights modified to be more "Lexus" like where the whole console goes dark when engine turns off and when engine turns on, the whole thing comes to life!
My wish? DO AWAY WITH THE DAMN AUDIO CUES and MAKE THEM VISUAL!
