Default Why don't the headlights come on when you unlock...

Lots of the newer cars and trucks turn the headlights on when you unlock them at night. When I got my new tundra I just knew it would do that. You know at night I would like my headlights to come on when I'm walking up to the truck for safety!! Anyone know if there is a way to mod this!! Thanks guys!!

I dont know any that does. Hell even my parents 06 Accord 2 door navi ex light's turn on from the parking lot yellow in the headlights. This is same approach on my current Tundra.
about a Mod doubt it go buy a aftermarket alarm it's much better vs Toyota anyday.

well here's a trick for you, it may not be headlights, but its for the overhead lamps, and the rear outside lights. mine turns on every time i unlock the beast, just flip the switch on the lower left hand side. hope that will help you feel more safer

Cool Re: Why don't the headlights come on when you unlock...

Ahh yup, that switch on the left hand side. I flip it to the auto position and leave it there when it gets dark. No more fearing who might be lurking in the backseat when you walk up to your truck, anymore.

Sanosuke!

I know that if you had bought a Ford F-150 or a GMC Sierra/Chevrolet Silverado, you would've gotten your head/taillamps that light up when you unlock with the remote! That is one of the things Toyota has decided not to make part of their package (it's not available on any Toyota to date). Ford and GM have had it standard for quite a while, even on some of their lowest models with keyless remotes. I like the fact that my interior lights come on, but another thing that made me want the CrewMax is that the Limited CrewMax comes with puddle lamps in the sideview mirrors. I was quoted some astronomically ridiculous amount because the whole mirror would have to be replaced to add them...

I just called Toyota and asked this question, and after holding for 7 minutes his response was no option, they will not come on.
