TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Lost against an armada?!?!?", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
so what the hell. I just ot back from the track here in san antonio. while i was doing my buisness in the mens room some lady asked the lady friend that was in my truck if she would like to match up an go down the track. so i agreed to let her for the first time to run my truck. whats the worst that could happen. i mean come on its a nissan armada with a 5.6L, well being the first time she had driven my truck she did a 15.1 but the armada pulled away fast ending with a 14.92. so long story short it really put a damper on my day because i cant even pass 14.95 yet. what a bummer
"The Armada must have been modded"
"Your girl doesn't know how to drive"
"I smoked an Armada 3 times off the line"
"There's something wrong with your truck, have it checked"
"We all know what the Tundra will do"
Nope...the Armada is a bad arse big machine with an excellent engine platform. It looses very little in the transfer case...so that 5.6 engine can pull some serious weight and FAST. With a simple CAI, exhaust, and a few engine tuning tweaks our trucks don't stand a chance stock. Even without those mods a stock Armada can pull a 15.0 in the 1/4.
Do I even need to say watch out for the Titans? The chances are GREAT that if you are sitting on the track against either of these vehicles they are modded. The doors have been opened up to them this past year with after market cams, bored TBs, and a tunes. What can be done for them can be done for the Armada.
Was that Armada silver by any chance?
Just remember boys... we are fast stock. Thats it. Without tuning we are limited with our power.

Well that's what happens when you order every concievable option. Either your ride is too heavy, you are at elevation with that extra weight, or you didn't turn the traction control off.
My reg cab runs like a raped ape, but I could see where a tune would allow it to hit redline in 1st gear and maybe add a little TQ to the powerband. Maybe in the future..who knows.
I rented an Armada this summer to take a road trip. It came with the gas plan that allowed me to return the truck with an empty tank. It still had about half a tank of gas when it was time to return it so I figured I would see what it could do. I made several 0-100 passes on a country road by my old house and I was shocked how that big *** SUV could scoot. They got it back on E
I think because our trucks are so fast stock, many of us get embarrased when they go against other fast trucks (many which are modded and we can't tell). There are a lot of other trucks out there that are faster than the CDs and CMs. The RCs have almost a full second on us, so they fare much better in these match-ups.
