Put off the race. Your truck will NOT come into its own until after ~3,500 miles. Mine woke up like CRAZY after 3,2xxx miles.

The Titans with some mods, especially 2WD, can lay down some impressive times. Driver skill will play a factor too. It will be a close match!

I agree. Wait at least to the 3500 mile mark. When you do race, please post your results. Good luck! (The Titan will need it)

Solution: race now and at 3K so you can see the difference between now and the engine break in!

yeah well he is going to have to wait.... if his is an 06 he has should have atleast 20K on his truck.... tell him there is no use to ruining your new truck for a race...

or race him now... and then again when you get more miles on it...

not going to ruin your engine in one race. it will only assist with break in.
make sure you are well warmed up, drive easily for at least 15 minutes. then race.
when the light turns green, stomp on it hard. dont be a wuss and ease into, this is a race, instantly down to the floor.
15 seconds later your buddy in the titan has lost inches from his manhood, and his voice appears higher.
i havent met a titan that has a chnace yet around here, but they all want to play. who am i not to embarass them.

my problem is my buddy / workmate bought his titan used.... and has no idea what was done to it... he insists up and down that it is stock.... but the fact that I can hear him coming from 4 blocks away tells me different....

all I know is stock to stock the tundra should blow away the titan....

such a hard choice

The 5.6 seems like it pulls real well on the highway, but it just can't compare to the 6 speed + the variable cam phasing and intake plenum tricks that the 5.7 toyota has. The titan is also lighter than other trucks in the same configuration.

From my point of view (driving a 2wd reg cab 5.7 at sea level), no titan will catch mine- not really even close.

No stock Titan will catch you. Modified is another story.

Tundras need a tuner already!

TH, why, in your opinion, is it taking so long to develop one...it seems like they are only working on Big 3 Programmers 1st...B.

I think the Big 3 always gets aftermarket attention first. Although, I think response for the 07+ Tundra will be exponential compared to the 2000-2006 Tundra. With 3 motor choices, 3 different body styles, 3 trim lines...they will recognize the increased customer base. I think with everything being new, it's just taking a while for companies to R&D a good tuner for us.. I am hoping one will be available SOON for the 5.7L.
