Default STS turbo?

Any news of sts doing a rear mount for our trucks...They do it for all the other trucks. They make good power and arnt that expensive at all. Will make just as much power as the trd blower for way less money

talked to them at SEMA in October and their engineers will start working onthis application in March 08. the biggest issue is the total VOID of the factory warranty if the ECU is reprogrammed.

Just give me the reliability of a factory warrantied supercharger + all the bolt ons. This should be enough to propel you to high 12's.

by federal law no one can modify any thing before the cats, and there are 4 cats. there is no way a single or a dual turbo system will work sitting in the middle of the truck after the last turbo. will turbos only work with a reprogamer? when avaliable, will a regrogamer void the tundra warranty?

Even if the TRD SC costs 5k, it's well worth it. The fact that you can purchase a new 5.7 tundra and add a SC for under 30k$ and have a 0-60 time of under 5 sec. is amazing in itself. The 5.7 RCSB is already the best horsepower/dollar deal in a pickup truck out there. I'd gladly pay the $5000 for the TRD SC in order to retain my factory drivetrain warranty. The safety margin in Toyota's ECM tune will be far better than any other aftermarket company can offer. Let's not forget here that we're dealing with a pickup truck that most people will use to haul or tow stuff with. If you end up only being able to use the truck for speed purposes rather than what it was designed for in the first place, then you should have purchased a sports car from the get go.

So headers are illegal?

Messing with the computer will void a warranty. I would think as long as you can supply an ample amount of fuel then a turbo, mounted anywhere, would be fine. The problem is that the stock ECU could potentially cause some problems. If somebody could find a way to bypass it to at least adjust the fuel curves that would be great.

That is the advantage of a factory produced supercharger. The ease of use with a such a modern engine is what makes it such a great value.
