This is a discussion thread titled "Skins and Rump Roasters", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Santa brought my Tundra (and me!) an early Christmas present - new tan leather seats and seat heaters. Santa didn't install them though. Took me a couple of weeks since I only have the evenings to work on them. I replaced the original black cloth and went with tan instead of black leather because it gives it more of a contrast. The seats are nice and toasty during cold mornings. I mounted the round switches that came with the heater kit in the dash blanks. I had to remove a lot of the material on each blank to get the switch to fit. While it isn't a factory look (round peg in a rectangular hole), I am pleased with it. Each switch has a high and low and two color lighted indicators. The leather cost $399 and the heaters were $170. Take a look at the pics and let me know what you think.
One question - you have the all black interior...why did you choose to go with tan leather and not black? I would have loved to have black leather, but I have the two tone interior.
Nice job. My Son and I would destroy seat covers that light. I would HAVE to go with black . Love the idea of the seat heaters. Nice spot for the switches.....

I got the seat heaters from heatedseatkits.com. They also work with cloth. Regarding the choice of tan, I almost went with black leather until I saw a Tundra equipped that way in Tampa. It just looked too dark and plain to me. The tan really pops against the backdrop of black carpet and all black dash and doors.
ThirdHorseman,
Yes, those are the leather seats from ebay. I actually picked them up in St. Petersburg when I was visiting relatives for Thanksgiving. That saved me $35 shipping. Even though they were closed the day after Thanksgiving, Mick (their representative) met me at the warehouse so I could get them. The leather is as promised and looks like the factory version.
By the way, I love the black out on your headlights. Is that a kit or did you paint them?

N/M, I re-read that you wanted a contrast...

Yes, those are the leather seats from ebay. I got them at the warehouse in St. Petersburg, FL when I was visiting relatives for Thanksgiving. That saved me $35 in shipping. Their representative (Mick) met me at the warehouse on Friday even though they were closed for the holidays. The leather is as promised and looks like the factory version.
By the way, I love the blacked out headlight housing. Is it a kit or did you paint them?

I agree, they do pop out and they do look nice. It's just that my Son and I are slobs and they would look like hell in no time at all

The dealer can install Toyota seat heaters also with no need for new covers. I had them added to my front cloth seats before taking delivery. The button is mounted down on the side next to the recline control. Plus they are covered by the factory warranty.
i didnt know that heated seats would be kinda popular. My limited came with the heated seat but since im living in texas i think ive only used them no more that 4 times...good job on the install.
