Side mirror heaters - How do you tell if they are on?
I have an 07 Tundra 5.7L with the Cold Kit and tow mirrors. I have the button on the center of my dash to turn on the side mirror heaters. That button lights up when I push it, but the "heater emblems" on the side mirrors don't light up, and I guess I expected these to light up when they were on. I know, they're not "emblems", but anyone with heated tow mirrors knows what I'm talking about. I've turned the mirror heaters on a few times over the last few days for snow/ice, but can't tell if they are working or not.
If you have the Cold Kit and heated side mirrors, do the heater emblems on your side mirrors illuminate? When the mirror heater button on the center dash is pushed, does it activate anything else besides the side mirror heaters?
Re: Side mirror heaters - How do you tell if they are on?
I also have the DC with heated mirrors. My "emblems" do not light up either, but the mirror is being heated (I could see it de-fogging). I guess it's like the rear window defogger in a car. The only indication that you get it the switch lights up. Those "ebmlems", I believe, are just to let you know that those mirrors are equipt with heaters.

There is no illumination of the "heater emblems" on the mirrors themselves.. When you press the button inside the cab, that is the indicator they are on. Mine work within a few minutes and defrost or remove any condensation that may build up overnight.
It also activates, I believe under the wiper blades at the bottom of the windshield to "unfreeze" the wipers if they are stuck to the window.. It also activates in the crewmax the back window defrost.
Re: Side mirror heaters - How do you tell if they are on?
Thanks for all the feedback, guys. I was thinking about them for ice, not fog. What's fog anyways? We don't have that fog stuff out in Nevada too often - only in the winter if there's an inversion. I wonder how warm they get, and if they'll work well.

My TL's mirros would actually be warm to the touch. I'm not sure about the truck's mirrors as I haven't tried them yet.
