TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Painting Rims", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I would like to have part of my rims painted, but I have a few questions.
1.How hard is it to paint on chrome (I want this to last and not chip or peel)
2. What kind of place should I go to?
3. Is there anyone in South Carolina that is on this forum that can do it?
4. Anyone have photoshop that could possibly show me the after product?
If someone does have photoshop I would like to keep the area around the spokes (I guess thats what youd call them) chrome. The spokes them self and the outer lip black.

1. Not hard at all. Just requires extra prep time (either media blasting or etching primer).
2. A body shop. You could have them powdercoated too.
3. I am from the ugly Northeast, sorry
4. I don't have PS on this computer, or I'd love to help.
I think your idea will look great. Hope you go through with it!

Sorry for sounding like a boot, but what exactly would powder coating be/look like. Also your truck looks amazing! I believe Complete Black is what rappers call "Murdered Out" haha. Awesome Truck
Powdercoating is pretty much as flexible as paint. It can be flat, matte, gloss, red, black, blue...the options are endless. I'll find some pictures for you.

Powdercoat would be much more durable than paint, IMO...
What does this mean, "sounding like a boot" ? What does a boot sound like?

Sorry. A boot is a new guy that just got out of bootcamp and doesnt know anything about anything. I guess the Marine Corps has poisened me. But I LOVE it!
Call these places tomorrow and see what they charge for what you want to do. I looked in South Carolina first, but everything seems to be in Charleston and Greenville.
