Default How do I add XM to the factory premium system?

Hey folks,

so i have the premium JBL sound system in my truck... i like it, but for the price it could have been a little louder, but still good.

Anyways, I want to see if it is difficult to add XM to it... it has the SAT button on it, but it does nothing right now. Do i need to add an antenna? or just programme it with a subscription?

Anyone know off the top of their head? if not , I will probably check at the dealer when i go pick up some oil filters this week.

thanks

Take it to the Toyota Dealer, I have it in mine and they did it for me. They have to install the Sat. Reciever. Cost is around $800. =)

Get the parts from Sparks and install it yourself, some here say it takes less than an hour start to finish...TRD Toyota/Scion Parts Accessories from Sparks Toyota/Scion

$800... did you typo that? there must be a way "we" can do it ourselves...

so far my dealings with the stealer have not been great... if they can't even do an oil change right, they are a little hard to trust. my first oil change and they over fill it by at least a liter.

Again, go to Sparks or some other online retailer, order what you need, and install it yourself. By my math, should be right around $270.00 plus shipping.

ok, cool, i read throught the sparks install and site. I guess that is what i need. I thought it was going to be simpler actually... ( like the head unit already having the tuner and antenna, just add subscription... kinda like my brother-in-laws new dodge ram ).

It has been added to my order list for my Christmas present to myself ( it sure is a long list now. )

Anyways, i think that answer it.

thanks guys.

I'm confused.. when i bought my truck i thought it came with XM installed and all I needed was the subscription..It doesn't make sense for them to say it's XM "Capable", because...well, ANY truck/car is XM capable if you just buy the kit...
