TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "4.7 vs 5.7 performance", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I've done some searching, both here and on other sites, and I've not been able to find a simple answer to a simple question.
What is the performance difference, meaning 0-60 times, between two similar Tundras having a 4.7 vs a 5.7?
Not a first gen vs second gen.
Both Second Gen.

0-60 for the 5.7 DC is about 6 flat. Quarter mile for the DC can be anywhere from 14.5 to 14.9 or 15 depending on the driver. The RCSB can do the quarter mile in low 14s.
I don't know much about the 4.7 0-60 and quarter only because I've never seen a test done on it.
Hope this can give you some base info until others chime in.
I dont know but man you got any pics off the '69 mustang? Ive got a '69 but just started tearing it down to do a restomod on it.
Here's one.

Still looking for information on the 4.7L, but according to Motor Trend:
The Tundra's 0-to-60 time of 6.0 seconds is the fastest time we've recorded in any stock half-ton pickup and shades the Silverado's by 1.7 seconds.
Mind you, this is for a doublecab 4x4 Limited...not exactly the lightest trim available. Considering the 5.7L can yield 18 mpg on the highway and 15 mpg in the city (my personal experience with my 4x4 Crewmax), I don't know if going with the 4.7L is going to save you THAT much gas.

Finding info on the 5.7 is easy, its the 4.7 which seems a little harder to come by.

Local dealers have 2007 4.7s on the lot, they are also cheaper to buy in the first place. I haven't looked at insurance rates yet, but I'd assume the 4.7 would be cheaper to insure.

For comparison's sake, I had a DC limited 4X4 for a day while my tires were being swapped out. Powerwise, it felt almost exactly like the F150 supercrew I had just given up - plenty of power for most people and situations, but not overly exciting.
Having said that, I was happy to get back into my 5.7 crewmax, which easily kicks the 4.7's *** and takes its lunch money, even though its a heavier truck.

I just got rid of my 2006 Tundra 4.7L for '08 Tundra 5.7L..big difference in performance I tell you and turning radius is awesome on the new Tundras..I had an TRD Supercharger on my '06 4.7L Tundra it put out bout 350hp or more I've never gotten chance to dyno it but gas mileage went down and premium fuel was recommended..sold it at 6,600 miles on the clock after I test drove one of the 5.7Ls...5.7L all the way bro

get the 5.7 same gas mileage as the 4.7. No brainer get the more powerful engine. I dont understand why someone would get the 4.7 over the 5.7 and they are about the same price better perfomance and same gas mileage.
