TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "DC or SC", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
If I was going to get on of these trucks just because its fast and I planned on buying all the performance goodies; would it be stupid to get the dc because it weighs like 250 lbs more? How much with that extra weight affect the truck?
A general rule of thumb in drag racing is remove 100 lbs and drop 1/10 sec.

Thanks guys. I've read on here that a rcsb can be up to a sec faster in tha quarter mile. How can that be if it only weighs 300lbs less 300lbs=3/10sec right? Is there any other reason why the rc's are so much faster?
From numbers I have read from other posts, the doublecab short box weighs about 5360 and the single cab short box weighs about 4600. That is somewhere i n the 750 difference or about 3/4 of a second on 1/4 mile stuff.
There's lots of variables. Again, the 100 lb & 1/10 second is a general rule of thumb.

If you have kids or more than 1 friend, get the DC. If you want the faster truck, get a RC. If you want to go faster, get a sports car.
Thanks man but being 20 insurance on anything sporty kills me. A new or newer mustang like $700 a month thats been the same for pretty much any sports car I've looked into. The quotes I've gotten for the tundra are in tha low 200$ range. Besides the tundra is almost as fast as most stock sports cars anyway. Thanks for your input

Ahh, to be 20 again. No thanks, but I did have a blast. Just wait 'til you get hitched, and have a few kids. I don't even pay $700 for every 6 months!
