TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "No 5.7L for 2008 RCSB?", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I went to Toyota's website and did the Build your Tundra and it does not appear that you can get the RCSB with anything but the V-6 and 2WD, is that true, or is the website just not up to date?

Well, I did a bit more digging on the Toyota website and under the Tundra Specifications it does show the 4.7L and the 5.7L being available as well as 4x4, so I guess their Build Your Own feature is not setup properly to allow you to select those options on the RC.

I too had the same problem as you when I was looking. Toyota's website would allow me to build it. Went to the dealership and they had one on their lot. I bought it! Just what I wanted.
It's NOT a oversight. It's what zip code you use to build the truck. In my area there are NO RC Tundra's except V-6 models in 2 wheel drive and we can't order one by the online site. However, you put in for example a Texas zip code and you can build one. Try building one using my zip 14086

I'm not sure about this. I put in the dealer's zip code for the build. Still nothing. It's the dealership I bought the truck from. Also, if you are thinking..maybe it was a dealer trade. Nope, the window sticker has the original dealer as my dealer..So I have to disagree with you.

Yup. I was in the same boat you were in. I went to the Toyo dealership and they had one sitting on their lot. I didn't believe them because 90% of the time they're full of sh*t, but there she was!
The Toyota Mafia is well known for only offering certain models in certain regions. Finding ANY RCSB's in the Carolinas' is like finding gold in a river bed. The zip code thing follows Toyota's regional policy. Go to the main site and you can build anything, but try to build one with a zip code and its like Russian Roulette, you never know what you'll get.
I couldn't find exactly what I wanted in GST, so I found a dealership in SET that could and ordered one. I will have to go to North Carolina to pick it up, but that's a small price to pay. Why Toyota allows these regions to control Toyota is beyond me.....it's like the tail waggin' the dog. But then, what do I know about big business?? I guess nuttin'!
