TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "In depth oil additive paper from a lab I use", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
This link will point to their newletter as they progress through the year, but right now it points to a great oil additive paper from one of the oil analysis labs that I use. This was a reprint from a magazine that they put on their site and is a little dated. But most of the information is still relevant.
Alan, what read! all good info. yes as almost all the informed have known for years, additives MAYBE don't hurt an engine but they don't do any good. some times we use them hopeing they could help protect our engine in extreme conditions. but after this VOLUME of info i will not use them again. if i want more protection i will add an extra quart of same oil in there, or better yet just change the oil more often. probably the best engine protection is to use a higher quality synthetic oil made from the better base stock. mobile one extended life is exceptable, but my research shows AMSOIL to be the best oil on the market.
Toyota engines will last 500,000 - 1,000,000 miles if a Toyota owner simply uses the same lubricants and filters that Toyota installed in their vehicles at the factory (conventional motor oil and genuine Toyota air & oil filters). See owner testimonials below.
