This is a discussion thread titled "No 20" Winter Tires?!", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I've been calling anyone in the Denver area who sells tires looking for a 20" snow tire and no luck. Discount tires can order the last set in the country of Bridgestone Blizzaks for $1000. My toy dealer hasn't been any help either. I knew going with the 20s would result to this.
Has anyone with 20"s on their 4*4 07 Tunny got a winter tire?
I went with 18" steelies and a set of Blizzak DM-Z3 (165/70/18)... Couldn't be happier with them.
Did ya now hey? If I got the 18s I'd have a lot more choices. The blizzaks are one of the few winter tires made for the 20s and I do want them, just can't find them. For now I'm stuck taking my FJ up to the slopes till I get some snow tires on the cruising beast.
Nokian lists a Hakkapeliitta Sport Utility 5 in 275/40-20 and the Hakkapeliitta SUV in the same size, both are available studded.

TireRack shows the Blizzak DMZ3, 265/50QR20 as being in stock for $155 ea.

My Dad has Hakkapeliitta's for his subaru and he thinks they are the best winter tire in the world... he drove his car into a field with 3 feet of snow and went through it easily with them... just a thought.
3ft of snow in a subaru? ive heard there the best cars for the snow but damn. I wouldnt go into 3 ft of snow in my truck without another vehicle. Of course ive never driven through snow

Another thought, check ebay for the 18" steel wheels. TPMS, from your 20" will not work but it is only for the snow season. You could then add locally which ever tire you want. I've seen the steel wheels for as low as $50 + shipping on ebay. Good luck...

Thanks, thought of that but don't wanna have to store em, I'm already storing wheels for my FJ and eats too much space in my garage. I tried hard to get my 07 LTD with 18s but they weren't around when I bought in April.
I went ahead and ordered the last set of 20" BS Blizzaks in the country for $1k, ridiculous mula to put out for tires but after passing a rolled F150 coming back from skiing I don't see any other option. Surprised it's been this hard to find 20" snow tires!

Don't you have to store the winter tires somewhere anyways?

Toyota claims going with the wrong tire size can throw off the traction control systems and heavily advised against it. 275/55R20s is what I need. nothing on tirerack for that size.
The Nokian Nokian Hakkapeliitta Sport Utility 5 comes in 275/55R20 and the 275/40R20. It also comes in 22 inch if you so desire. Blizzak Schmizzak... Bridgestone didn't start making winter tires unril they saw how good Nokian was doing with them. Based in the Arctic Circle in Findland probably makes people want really good winter tires.
The ProComp Radial All Terrains are sever weather approved (snowflake) and go for around 200 a tire for 275/55/R20 and apparently have a 50'000 mile treadwear warranty...
I had Jakkapeliitta's on my Suzuki sidekick, they looked like they'd be awesome winter tires.. unfortunately someone stole it the day of the first snowfall
