This is a discussion thread titled "buying a new truck", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
hi im new here been looking around on this site . iam looking to buy a new tundra waiting for the dealer to find my colour lol .ive been hearing problems about there tailgates are there any other problems i should know about that you ppl have had
by the way it is an 07 dc 4*4 short box with a 5.7
thanks jeff
Based on my experience, you can save $20,000.00 if you can find an 07 south of the border.
Taxes and everything incl.
Less savings if you're not getting the Limited, but you'll get the Limited for less than the SR5 would have cost you in Canada.
Problems? 5,000 miles not any real problem. Transmission initially rumbled when shifting from 6th to 5th; this has pretty much stopped. I did pay for the extended warranty, so I'm not too worried about that.
Tailgate isn't very strong, and you may bend the lip if you try to load ATVs up a ramp. I believe Toyota will fix this if it breaks.
Our freeways are mostly asphalt in Canada, so the infamous "bed bounce" hasn't bothered me.
It's a great truck.
Good luck.

20,000 miles since June 15th and I still love driving it. I've only been pulled over 2 times and only warnings (knock on wood). It's hard not to put the pedal to the carpet for that just been shot out of a cannon feeling.
