TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Goodbye sweet tundra, you will be missed!", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is the end of my run of 6 straight years of tundra ownership. My life has changed for the better, with a kid on the way and a fresh job with a long commute, the tundra is the least logical option for me. I am getting into a small SUV that can tow my boat, four wheeler, camping gear and make the home depot runs for my wife to drive, and I will use my her is250 as a daily driver for my rediculous commute.
I promise this is not the last tundra I own, but in a panic move last week after filling it up twice, I decided to put some feelers out. I cannot believe that a week later, I am paid and it is done. If you ever worry about the resale value of your tundra, don't bother worrying.
These are the last pics I took with her before she goes accross country.
And my pouting face

remote, you might be in luck. The new owner has to import the car to canada and cannot have mods. He wants to buy new ones. I will keep you updated on a swap.

I know what you mean, as my commute takes me an entire song on the radio, sometimes two if the roads are icy. On top of that, I drive home for lunch every day. So, I'm talking at least 1 gallon/day.
No, in all serious...good luck. Did you consider keeping your Tundra and just buying a 10+ year old foreign communter car for work? What about a Tacoma? Hopefully you'll stay in the Toyota family.
Thought that scenery looked familiar. Then I saw your info. Fontainebleau High c/o '97. Haven't been back in awhile, but you can never mistake that stupidly long bridge in the background. Guess that's part of the commute huh?
Glad to hear that your life has taken such a positive turn. Sorry to hear that it cost you your Tundra though. Hope to see you back - You will be missed.

Sorry to see your Tundra go but know that its for the better. You can still hang around the forums, we won't kick ya out. I recognize that bridge, has to be one of the longest I've ever seen, I hate it lol Well good luck from a fellow Louisianian!
haha, no willy, I am in the car for 3 LONG hours a day. I did consider an old commuter, but about 3 years ago, we sold my wife's 1996 civic after draining our college aged bank accounts on a transmission, exhaust system, ac rebuild, a bumper that flew off, and many other misc. items. I swore at that point, I would never try to get by on the cheap with automobiles.
I know most people hate the crossovers, but I am test driving the x5's and the cayenne s's. I need to tow 7k lbs and make it "cute" enough for the wife to drive it durring the week. The four runner, though ideal in size, feels dated already and the new highlander cannot handle my load.
BigJoker, I LOVE the new sequoia, and even though I want something smaller, it keeps drawing me back in. Size wouldn't matter to me, as I would be daily driving the IS. I have a little boxster garage queen to hold me over till I figure out what I need. Fishing season doesn't start until spring.
LOUISIANIANS! Who dat! You know my pain! I will tell you the last straw, and I know you will understand me. FOG WARNING ON THE 24 MILE CAUSEWAY BRIDGE, then I10 traffic to downtown in rush hour, a daily meeting back in metairie, back to downtown, and back to Mandeville! All of this time, my truck bed never gets touched. I started taking the little boxster out the garage for the commute, but its miserable with a standard with race suspension. It is my interim vehicle though.
Swank- I am Jesuit 2001, I was born south shore and looked for refuge up north!

Must be one heck of a promotion for a new job..Looking at BMW's and Porsche's..Congrats. How did you happen to sell your truck internationally to Canada?
Cycleman, no promotion, actually a demotion in regards to pay.
The tundra is not a cheap truck, it is in the same ballpark as many low mileage high quality used cars/trucks. The canada thing worked out because he had relatives in california that he was visiting for xmas

Well since you're parting out your truck, how much for the toolbox?
Jk. Awesome truck and sad to see it go!
Why not keep the truck and save the losses from selling it (although I guess selling it to Canada you'd get more money? I dunno..) and also from buying a new car. That way you can spend that money on gas. No need to thank me now
All kidding aside, happy to hear about the positive changes, but too bad you gotta let 'er go. Good luck man!
