Default VSC Off?

When I have my truck in four wheel drive is says VSC off, which means the stability control is off. But when it is in 2WD it doesnt say anything. When I look in the manual it didnt say anthing.
Is it supposed to be like this, or do I have a problem?

Yup, normal. And a good thing in my opinion. (contrary to automotive publications.)

I've had many a times in the past with 4wd, gotten bogged down, or started losing traction; and a good steady wheelspin and steady throttle would slowly trudge me out.

Yes, normal. Unless the "VSC OFF" light is on, your VSC is operating. 4X4 turns it off.
