Oh my gawd! hwy 69 south from 40 to the texas state line! That is a piece of crap. it will rattle anyones teeth in any vehicle. that has to be the most damaged road in the us. I came to a light in front of one of the casinos and noticed a cop at the intersection so i changed my mind and decided to try to get stopped before it turned from yellow to red. i wound up skipping allong the tops of the pot holes with my brakes locked and slid all the way through the intersection. The cop never gave it a thought he just went after the light finishd changing and drove away. I drive it five or six times a year going to dallas. I feal your pain andrew.

cant wait to see how the tundra handles it. i bet the trd suspension will beat us to death. I may have to load it up for the trip.

Fill the bed up with cases of beer. It will help load the suspension and give you a smoother ride.

It's pretty funny.

From GM-Trucks.com
http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=67143&st=0

I just purchased a 2007 Sierra with the new body style (appears that everyone here refers to it as NBS) and I did some short test drives before buying it but never noticed the horrible bouncing. I live in San Diego and on several of the freeways the bouncing is so bad that it shakes my whole body and practically gives me a headache!

...we have a couple newer freeways around here that my truck does that on...

edmunds.com full test of the 2007 NBS Sierra Denali mentions the same problem: "At the same time, the mix of low-profile tires and a heavy-duty truck suspension is always an uneasy one. This is particularly apparent on California's concrete freeways where the rear end can bounce along with the undulations to produce an agonizing harmonic that makes it impossible to have a conversation inside the cab."

I drove those freeways for years, they're terrible on long cars even in a continental they're pure hell.

...when I drove at 75 or 80 it got so bad that I though I would bounce out of my lane!

Driving my truck on many of the So Cal freeways is a major PITA. Don't let these clowns get to you about it being a Tundra or doubt there is a problem just because it says GM on it. I am very disappointed with my GMC.

Guess which "clown" he's refering to.

I have a nbs Silverado Crew cab that did the same thing on a stretch of the 210 between La Canada and Sunland, just north of L.A.

There is another stretch of I-20 in between Oxford and B'ham, AL that is concrete and I get the bouncing really bad.

I got my NBS silverado about 3 weeks ago. It drives like a dream and is smooth as silk. That is until i drove in the left hand lane of Loop 101 in Phoenix AZ! I def experienced the "bounce". I changed to the middle lane and it was gone. Its something in how they make the roads out here in the west.

we were in a dodge 3/4 CTD with 35's and my GOD was it horrible on the freeways. i remember having a drink, and not being able to time when to drink it.

Drives like pure crap on the concrete freeways, but sometimes I can find a better lane.

Nothing but 500lbs+ of weight in the bedworks. Check out my old thread too. Search "rough ride on freeway" I even got a new truck since then. Nothing will work. Not even the new closed frame. Ride an airplane or get over it.
I had to.

I-10 in Lafayette bounces my truck so bad I stopped going on the interstate in that section. It literally bounces so much my head slams the top of the cab.

Man I can't believe you guys hit my neighbor's problem on the head. He does nothing but a Kareem Abdul Jabar down the freeway's in good old CA. What idiot designed the suspension on these POS trucks.

my GMT-900 with the 20" wheels and goodyears is riding as smooth as a babies butt. however, there are sections of freeway (thx Caltrans) where mine will do the pogo stick act. i also experience harsh bounces over road irregularities.

Anyway, I have experienced the bounce you guys are talking about, but I don't drive on those roads very often. "

LMAO!!!

Same complaint on the Dodge Ram too. This thread sounds EXACTLY like this one from a Dodge forum, almost to the word:

How Did You Stop the Freeway Bounce?

I just took a quick glance at these posts and have two statements to make. First off, bed bounce is a misnomer. If I could look at my mirror and just see my bed bouncing around I'd shake my head and say "Toyota you should have engineered this truck better". But no, the whole truck bounces. So bad that if you have any loose tooth fillings, they'll come out. Second, about 3 or 4 months ago I checked the air pressure in my tires and found they were way low. So I filled them up to the maximum. The next time I drove on the same sections of road that used to bounce the hell out of me, the truck hardly bounced at all. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't a smooth, easy ride but it was tolerable. A very big difference. I had pretty much given up on a solution but for me that's all it took. Try it. See if it helps.

I think that with all the 1/2 ton trucks the manufacturers have tried to beef them up so much to get a Tow rating they have caused this problem to be worse than previous years, all trucks will have similar issues, it just the way trucks are engineered, and certainly based on the road conditions it can be worse in some places than others, I have a bounce but for me it seems like it is the entire truck on concrete only, I watched the bed tonight to see if it moves by itself, it was hard to figure out for me, didnt know if it was or wasnt but it wasnt so bad I couldnt talk.

I will say this, my 2004 Sequoia and 2005 DC bounced also, the Sequoia worse than the 2005 DC, and this new 08 DC more than the 2005 DC but not worse than the Sequoia. Hope that makes some sense. The 2008 Pilot I got rid of for the Tundra didnt either but it has a much softer suspension and a shorter wheelbase.

But it definitely has a lot to do with the road, the concrete on I25 near Denver isnt nearly as bad as the concrete on I25 near Surrey Ridge, Castle Pines and Castle Rock which is by highway standards pretty new. So I really do think the road itself has a lot to do with it.

probably not that simple, you'd have to also look at 4wheel drive vs 2 wheel drive, reg cab, dbl cab, crew cab, not to mention ALL the wheel and tire combinations!

I have a long bed that certainly didn't bounce like the excellent videos have shown, however, going over segmented concrete roads or pavement with frequent cracks caused a "hopping" sensation.I had the bed Line-X'd and found as a bonus that it cancelled this sensation.I'm not a Line-x plant,I'm sure any spray in liner would do the same.the added rigidity is unbelievable.

Just to clarify.....ALL TUNDRAS HAVE BED BOUNCE!!!! It's just some have driven under particular conditions to bring this out and some haven't. This is not a defect, it's a design flaw. To say your truck (stock) does not have bed bounce is like saying your truck does not hydroplane having never driven in the rain.

My two cents....or whatever I'm up to now
