Its not a design flaw either. Its normal behavior for any truck with that type of frame, including 1/2 tons, 3/4 tons, and larger.

I don't care what you call it a defect, design flaw, problem, issue......etc., but it sure isn't normal.

Both the 07 and now the 08 has the Line-x. Both trucks bounce. I agree, it's a design flaw. I have driven 3 different Tundras over the same stretch of interstate. All three bounced the same.

The "Bed Bounce", which should be called "Frame Flex", is the one reason I haven't pulled the trigger on a Tundra quite yet.

For those worried about bed bounce, consider where you are driving....if you do not have concrete highways it may not even be an issue.....

Unfortunately, it is normal. This is one thing Tundra drivers just dont seem to get, probably due to most of them never having any real experience with large trucks.

Unless you concede that all older 1/2 ton trucks by the big-3 with standard frames, and all current 3/4 tons (and larger) arent "normal", or that all of them have a "design defect".

So, are ALL of those trucks not normal?

*or*

Do ALL of them have a design defect?

So after speaking with my neighbor who is like the king of off road and trucks, he has a F250 crew cab with a 6 Inch lift and more, he told me even with his truck and a longer wheelbase he says he gets the exact same thing, even the infamous bed wiggle as he calls it. Now this is truck guy, off road, racing, general purpose you name it, and he is a Huge Ford guy. He says that all fords and all PU's will do the same thing depending on the highway itself, he also said looking in your mirror is not the best way to tell how to see whats happening, his theory is that the entire truck bouncing (for which I agree) during the event and that makes it look worse than it really is.

Bottom-line this from a Ford guy, he says it is just folks not getting that your driving a truck meant for work, off road and heavy-duty towing, if you want an SUV then buy one (for which he agrees the new Ram will be a Truck/SUV), I am not trying to say it doesn't happen, not trying to be nasty, and I have observed it and felt it in my truck and differently on different concrete roads, we have Toyota, GM, Ford and Dodge trucks in my neighborhood and the owners all confirmed to me that they have the same bouncing and bed "shake" on some of our highways, it isn't just the Tundra, most of them want my truck.

I dont know what else to say except that if someone can soften the experience by replacing springs and softening the ride then there you have it, no secret, no flaw, just that they built the truck to be stiff and load up with a lot of weight.

I hope you all find a solution to your problem, or learn to live with it.

The previous Tundras (of which I had two, 2001 and 2005) were not full size trucks and didn't compare with the competition when it came to power, load capability and towing, we "asked for it and we got it"...isn't that the old commercial And they still bounced. Again this is my Third Tundra and I think this is still the best Tundra ever built.

With all of todays current pickup trucks regardless of brand it IS normal. I test drove each of them, didnt see or feel any different in any of them.

I really just joined this forum for help with some DIY things but felt I could give my two cents. I had a 2001 F-150 4X4 before my now 2008 DC 4.7L Tundra. I must agree the bed bounce is noticeable but the ride feels about the same as my old Ford with a 5.4L V8. My dad just bought a '08 F-150 4X4 and it drives about like my mom's 2007 Expedition, slightly rougher but much smoother than both my old ford and my new tundra. Now I have hauled loads of rock, mulch and sod in the back of my ford and let me tell you I could feel every pound of weight in that bed as I tumbled down the road. 4 days after I got my tundra I loaded it with a pallet of sod (not sure how much that weighs) and I didn't feel like I was hauling anything at all. The pedal was just as responsive as if my bed was empty. The engine I have now isn't even close to what my 5.4 would do for me (empty bed) but when it came to hauling I've never felt a truck as responsive. This is a real truck not my old 4X4 which was fun to drive off road and everything but sucked at hauling a loaded bed. Toyota did a great job at designing a truck to be a truck when so many trucks today are designed to be a smooth ride first and truck second. I use my truck for work so I expect it to feel like a truck not an SUV. (My Dad won't let me put sod in his or I would have told you what that one felt like) BTW there is bed bounce and I do feel it but down here in FL they take care of the roads for the most part even though it takes them forever to get any work done. 408 still sucks through Orlando!!

Here we go again. I personally have had several trucks, the last two being a 2001 Chevy 2500HD Crew and a 2003 Chevy 1500HD Crew. No truck that I have ever owned had a bed that shakes like my '07 Tundra Crew. So I guess it's normal by some Toyota owner standards. Watch the Ford video with some friends and turn up the volume so you all can enjoy the laughter, it's embarassing. Other than this problem I like the truck. I don't know if I would buy another one though.

Interesting you should mention the 2001 2500HD's - my work has 4 of them, I've driven them all - they ALL do it. So do the 2 2002 F250's, so do the 5 2003 F150's. No different than the 2 2007 Tundras in the yard.

Guess they all have design flaws.

That video is BS and I am tiered of hearing folks talk about it, it is total BS, I can make any ( and I mean any) PU do that given the situation, just because Ford staged this you believe it?.

Come on we are not that stupid.

Exclamation Re: Possible Tundra Bed Bounce CURE FOUND

Would those of you that have nothing better to do than to bitch and moan and put others down, PLEASE step the *F* off and shut your pie-holes? I am so sick of reading the childish bickering on this board that I have had to cancel my subscription to this thread.

FACT: The truck bounces. FACT: We all know it now. FACT: Toyota knows it. FACT: Unfortunately they haven't stepped up yet to fix it.

Now...DEAL WITH IT or sell your damn truck!

This is my 4th Tundra ('02, '04, '06 and now '07) and even with the bounce it is by far the biggest, baddest Tundra yet.

Enough said.

You need to chill out. Even if the problem is not a "problem" but flaw in all trucks (which there is doubt, but even if true) this thread is for owners looking to fix it. Which means those of you who accept it, ignore it, don't think its a problem or just don't care should NOT post. This isn't a discussion for you. Go away. Let us discuss this for our needs. Why does it bother you so much?

The wife and I are going to buy a TT. I have an 06 DC 4.7 with the tow package. I was thinking of trading up to the '08 5.7 for its towing capacity, but, this thread has opened my eyes, and, after viewing the YouTube video. I don't seem to have this 'bounce' in my '06, but then again, It does not have the towing capacity.
