This is a discussion thread titled "Dueler A/T Revo VS Dueler H/L Alenza", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Been lurking on this site for many months and have decided it was time to try and get some of my questions answered. I have a CrewMax 4x4 and have the original OEM tires (Bridgestone Dueler H/T D684 II). I do not like these tires and want something better and have narrowed it down to the Revos & the Alenzas. I am looking for a quiet ride and good traction but I very rarely go off road and was wandering with the good reviews of the Revo's on Tire Rack if it would have as good road manners as the Alenzas since they look more like a street or highway tire. But if the Revos are as quiet and comfortable, I would get them instead of the Alenzas for the occasional off roading. Any thoughts or experiences with either or both?
I have the same stock tires you have and mine is also a 4x4. I don't off road often either. i've always assumed Bridgestone tires weren't any good because no one I've ever know has bought bridgestone. Everyone I know usually buys Cooper ST's or BF goodrich.

I put the Alenzas on my wife's 2005 Tacoma. She loves them. Basically what you get with them, is a very round all season street tire with good manners, ribbed tread tracks straight on the highway, balances easy with only small wheel weights, siped for good grip on ice, quiet and long wearing.
The tread is not as aggressive looking as the Revo, but it's a well mannered street tire with long life.

Bridgestone’s are generally more expensive than the brands you mentioned and often one of the most expensive options period. Cost often plays into a tire purchase. I have found many Bridgestone tires to be superior to most other manufactures give similar duties and have run them on many of my cars. I have yet to be disappointed with one.
I have also run them on several sports cars and was the OEM tire on my DB9. I am on the second set and love them. Wore out the first set in about 15K miles.
Regarding the OEM tires on my CM; they show a pretty good rating on the tire rack web site. I have found their information to be extremely accurate and use it as my main source when shopping for tires. Remember that these are for mostly on-road and are not meant to be an off-road tire, so they will not be that good in deep snow and will suck in mud. I run my truck mostly on the road (Only had time to go off-road once due to time.), however I will probably go to Goodrich AT when I ware these out. I would change them now, however my wife does not understand unnecessary expenses. Bridgestone does not make a good AT tire in the size I want.
i have used both, revo are a great tire with alot of grip and has a rougher ride than the alenza but they both imo are a super tire in rain and snow....as far as ice i have yet to see any tire that does slip some,i mean it's ice you will slip and slide,i have had them on every tundra i have owned 4 total and if you rotate every other oil change you will get 50-60,000 out of them, thats the first thing i do to a new truck is get me some bridgestones i love them..
i have never got them all ready on a new truck alway dunlaps or michelins and i hate both...jmo!

Thanks lilefan8, that was the type of real world experience I was looking for. My gut feeling is to get the Alenzas as I feel they will be more civilized on the highway. I don't want to hear a tire talking to me on my long trips to Orlando; I like it quiet when I'm driving!
I sold the Bridgestone H/T OEM tires and put on REVO'S and they are GREAT. NO more noise then the OEM tires and the ride seems the same. I have used the REVO'S for deer hunting going UP HILL in the snow thru a farm field without problem. I will buy them again without thinking twice.

Wife had Revos for more than 50,000 miles and her Pilot was unstoppable in bad weather. As they wore, they got really noisy so we went with Michelin LTX AT-2's on her's this time.I've just had a set of Revos put on my truck and I'm expecting great performance from them. The Civic she had before this Pilot was noisy too so some of this problem is a 'Honda thing'. You're probably on the right track with the Alenzas for your use. In our case, when the roads get slick, we don't get up our driveway without good traction.Tires really make all the diference even with all-wheel-4-wheel drive. We have to ceep down the hill then turn into our driveway from almost a dead stop, then up the hill we go!
I put REVOs on my truck. One look at the stock BFGs and I made it part of the deal for the vehicle that those useless baloneys got replaced. They might be a tiny bit louder than stock, but ride as well and are FAR more capable in mud and snow. I'll stick with them or Goodyear Silent Armors for my wagon.

Yep, like 4X4 Toyer said the Revos can really wear fast, the usual reason from what I read is too light a series of tire for a given application. If Tire Rack has their facts right there are quite a few weight ranges for the Revo.In my case I could have went with the P series instead of LT. The size was the same but the load rating isn't, with added rating theres' deeper tread.
Thanks everyone for your responses. I agree that unless I will be doing more offroad stuff, then I'll just stick with the tire that will have the best manners on the highway which should be the Alenzas.
I have the stock BFG Rugged Trails on my SR5 CM. I agree with everyone else on here, they suck.
I had put a set of Goodyear Wrangler silent armor on my 04 Durango and they were great tires, smooth ride, excellent in the winter and I put close to 70K miles on them before I got the CM.
That said, I'll be doing a lot of research and considering everyone's tire comments here on TS when it comes time to replace the BFG's next year (if not sooner!!).
